Greetings Pelican friends. I've been over the on M5 board a lot recently but I've had a chance to turn my attention back to my 911 recently.
Thanks to help from our local PCA President, Keith Synder, I've nearly gotten the car back on the road. I've had my gauges redone by NHS. They came out GREAT! I also added a trans temp and volt meter gauge in place of the clock. ![]() I've replaced most of the factory switches with toggle switches. I've also created 4 dash vents (as the other early car guys know too well, getting air in these cars is tough) and replaced the fresh air blower motor. I also added footwell blower motors for heat and defrost. The vents facing the driver and passenger are now strong! The new dash is installed. I really like the simple lines of the early car dash. Wayne, our host, was kind enough to email me when he got one of these proto's in. I like how it matches the dash. Next steps will involve finishing the switches and wiring. Installing the carpet. I have deleted the radio, amp, speakers & 964 decklid I purchased these Sparco Milano seats in black leather. I am happy with how they match the rest of the interior and the comfort for driving and support for the track in one seat is great to have. Step by step I am getting closer to having her back on the road. My goal is to have everything done so that I can catch some events in the spring.

Looking Good!
Are you going to leave the rear seats out and put in an 'RS Carpet Kit'? If so, detail your progress. Drums

Thanks. Eric

thanks Noah, North Hollywood Speedo. Tyson recommended them.
I will post some more pics and details. Wevo shifter is planned. Glad someone else is thinking the same way ;-)

Can you give me details of your roll cage? Or is it a roll bar?
I am in the first phase of gathering info before I pull the trigger on a roll cage for my Targa. Thanks, Drums

![]() side shot, getting the ducktail on with the new hinges has been fun by myself. this will be the single control for the fresh air system. a toggle switch will turn the blower on at two levels. these vents were sourced from street rodder magazine. I don't recall the name of the company, could have been 'southern air' or something like that. You can find similar at a hot rod show. What I did was to carefully measure and cut the dash (and the factory dash behind it) to allow the vents to be installed. Then I had to make a couple cuts behind the dash to the front hood area to allow the new larger individual ducting to route to the vent. This was key for getting the air flow the way I wanted it - functional. there will be 6 toggles when done. these will replace the light switch, internal map light switch, footwell blowers, fresh air blower, hazzards and a hidden kill (sequence). I also will have it so that I can run front lights and no tail lights if I wish... while not the best pic, this shows the two function trans temp & amp meter clock replacement made for me by North Hollywood Speedo. Ask for Dirk and tell him I sent you if you call, great guy, great work. Noah, these were the gauges I had in the car, some were early car, some were 84-89 vintage. one of the bigger challenges was switching the later model turn signal and wiper switch back to early car style. Scruffy has a lot of different parts on her. It took me many hours (because I am a novice) to get the wiring worked out. In fact, Keith and me are still working on the last details. This project can be done and to tell you guys the truth, I didn't know what I was going to do until I 'got in there'. I knew I wanted something more 'vintage' than the later model dash I had to start with but it wasn't until I went searching for options that I came up with this. Maybe it is the hot rodding roots I have from my Dad, but I knew that while the wax and wash crowd probably wouldn't approve, it would be damn cool to have something that no other 911 owner had. Heck, that is why I got this car in the first place! she has come a long way!

Hi James,
Very interesting thread. I am trying to restore my 81SC. 3 questions: 1) You mention footwell blower motors. What motors did you use, or is footwell a brand name. 2) Tell me about the dynamat. I have seen it around before. You deleted the car stereo, so is this just for road noise? 3) Is your old steering wheel for sale? I need a new one for my SC. Thanks, James

the footwell is the area the blowers are located in. these were an option on later model 911's in the 80's I think. I got them from ebay.
I stripped the interior tub down to metal, then sealed it and add the dynamat just for noise. The wheel was returned to Jack as it (Olsen) as it belonged to him and was BB1. Good luck with your project

The interior looks great, James. I don't think the 911's original random array of controls and levers was ever going to win any awards, but you've improved on it.
