Mistery Momo horn button - no ground wire.
In the pic, the Porsche button is on the left, Momo supplied button is on the right. On the Porsche button there is a hole (arrow) with a ground symbol and I can see a metal prong in it. If I stuff the ground wire in it it won't stay. Is there a special attachment I should be using.
Thanks.

Definitely subscribed. I was just looking at one of my Christmas presents, and it's exactly the same. So what wheel did you get? I got the Competition in 350mm. Can't wait to install it!

no the ground wire should attach to a metal ring between the momo adapter and the wheel. The wire around the horn button is then grounded when the button is inserted. The hot lead connects to the tab on the back of the button.

Your new one is designed for cars that have the steering shaft and or column grounded to the chassis. The brass spring hoop at the top of it pushes up against the hole in the wheel to make the ground connection. Use a volt meter with continuity tester to see if the steering shaft is a good ground. Or, just touch the hot horn lead to the splined end of the shaft and see if the horn honks. If so, you don't need to worry about a ground lead.

So did you install it as it is in the pic, or did you modify/swap the buttons over? I won't get to this today or tomorrow, but plan on doing it this week.
BTW, it looks great! I hope my Competition looks as good as your Monte Carlo! Thanks, Mike

This part makes sure the brass thingy stays in contact. |

I used a sheet metal screw that tapped itself into the plastic hole and touched the metal ground inside the button to connect the ground wire.

I swapped out the horn part to the other backing piece. Ulrich |

So how does the horn come apart? I looked at it briefly, but couldn't see how it came apart. WHat am I missing?
I think the brass 'ring' will do the job, but will wait to see when I pull the factory wheel this week. Thanks, Mike

Mike,
Pop out the part of the horn face that pushes in to honk. I put some tape around the edge not to scratch the rim and inserted a very small flathead screwdriver between the outer rim and the horn button. Then push up and the center portion will pop out. Ulrich |
