Sunroof seal- A few questions

Can someone walk me through a sunroof seal install?

I have 2 seals well actualy 3 but the 3rd I know how to install . I dont know what sequence to install the other 2 or how!!

Here is a pic of the 3rd seal I know how to install

My sunroof is out of the car right now as you can see.... should I be installing the front seal ( the one that glues to the roof of the car I THINK ) before I install the sunroof or does the front seal also glue to the sunroof itself?

I am thinking this glues to the sunroof it self because it would line up with the rear seal very nicely!! You can see in the pic where the rear seal stops and the front seal stops.

Or do I just instal the rear one ( the one that I THINK glues to the sunroof itself)

I have the factory manuals but they are not to clear and skip a lot of stages.

Thanks for any info on this

Check my thread from a couple of weeks back.

This was a very easy job but you have to have the right materials and a good plan. The "front" seal installs on the body of the car. The rear seals to the roof panel. Might as well do them all with the panel out of the car.

The key for me was to line everything up and tape the seals in place with blue painters tape every 5-6 inches or so. That way you can peel off sections of tape and glue them a section at a time.

Be patient. If you want to talk this over the phone just PM me and I'll give you my number.

Dawg,
Thanks.... I checked out your post on this topic here is the link for anybody else
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/376404-sunroof-cable-repair-new-seals-87-911-a.html

A few questions...
1-when your installing the front seal do you just use the complete lenght of the seal and let it curve under ther roof?

2-In this pic do you use the complete lenght of the rear seal? It looks like you have to slice the rear seal it to get a nice seal with the front seal.

If I have any problems when I try to do this later I will PM and give you a call.
I really apreciate your help on this. Pelicans are just plain awsome.
Thanks

Here are your answers:

1. Use the complete length of seal don't trim anything. Yes, you let both the front and rear seal ends curve downward slightly to make a good fit. If you want, you can work with the fit at the ends once everything is together. I lifted one end just to get it perfect.

2. You may see on other posts where people say that the factory installation gets that tight look simply by curving the ends down. I don't buy it. What that picture shows is that internal to the seal is a rubber cord. Those factory seal cords end before the surrounding felt material ends and that is what makes for the really nice dovetail you see. The replacement seals have the cord go completely to each end so to get around this you curve the ends down. It's not exactly the same but plenty close enough..
