The car is Grand Pr-ix White, sort of. It is coming apart to be painted. First question, do I match the rings to the body or go black and stay with the b on w accent theme? Second question what to do about the side window trim, they are in good shape but short of re-anodizing them, paint?

White...period. With flag mirrors those rings gotta be body color.

As for the chrome, I think might look odd to have the headlight rings as the only chrome on the car.

I like the black accent and left mine black, but it would look fine white/matching too. Chrome wouldn't be an option for me unless other chrome trim was on the car already. Black or matching, simply a matter of preference.

I repainted all the window trim on mine using Rustoleom semi-gloss, although satin would have been more correct, I wanted to match the trim to my wheels. I did it on the car (masked off the entire car to avoid over spray)....if the car is being repainted it will be breeze and the finish is VERY durable, I perfer matching H-4 trim over black myself....to me black looks unfinished.

I'm cheap & lazy & didn't buy the optional rings. I left mine black for now. It works. Ian

Just my opinion but I think the rings need to be body color. Chrome looks good on an earlier car with existing chrome trim.
It just looks out of place if it is not body color or chrome. No need to draw more attention to the lights. I also feel the same way about mirrors that are not painted body color. The impact bumper cars already have too many "accents" as it is. Ben

You could always have your painter repaint the trim too, but I'm sure that wouldn't be cheap. I'd go the rustoleum satin route myself. In fact, that is just another project on my to do list...

Well thanks for all the feedback especially the photos, which helped in the decision. I have been driving it with the rings in black and have been debating this since I upgraded the lights. I was leaning toward keeping them black and my wife said after looking at the pictures, black of course… so much better. Now back to taking things apart….
Thanks again, Jeff

Why not buy another set have them painted white with the rest of the car and have two sets. Can't cost that much since you are having the car painted anyway. Good luck.
