...and they called this car a slant nose. So where's the slant?

JeremyD 01-03-2007 08:32 AM

Ahh the uber-rare slant nose with the slant nose delete option...

Seems to me that the description was pretty "slanted." :D

Is anyone going this year?
I've always wanted to see it so I'm going this year. I've got media credentials so maybe I can get too Boyd and ask him a few choice questions.
If anyone is going to be there and wants to hook up for a beer let me know

Steve

At one point Rdane was talking about putting his car at one of these two auctions. Anybody heard?

hehe...thats a triple slant nose delete. No slant fenders, boxed rockers or rear brake vents.

Thats as bad as the Bentley Turbo engine picture shown with the white 1988 factory slant, Lot Number:646

He should - although those bozos wouldn't appreciate the car for what it is - Although they might buy for their daughter for their 16 birthday because it's a pretty color.

Better off private party. The car would sell for $20-30k at BJ or RM. To get good money at auction you have to have a rare car. I rather have an old 911 than a million dollar chevelle but those guys are the exact opposite.

Elombard 01-03-2007 09:13 AM

6 Ferraris and 400+ Chevys!!!! I am glad I saw that website. Now I can skip the TV coverage...nothing interesting.

They might as well change the name to something all muscle cars.

trader220 01-03-2007 09:38 AM

The auction is about making money and with an 8% buyers and 8% sellers fee why would they take anything but what’s hotter than hot right now? That’s a hefty fee for an auction isn’t it?

If you had some form of 60’s to early 70’s car sitting around it looks like with worth it to stick a big motor in it and call it a “recreation” and get it out there. How many Cuda clones are going to sell for 200k or more in the future?

I guess you could make a case for some early 911’s but the crowd is not geared towards them.

I think, but I may be wrong that something like 5 or 10 years ago the real bulk of cars at B/J was a lot older then the 60’s / 70’s stuff?

JeremyD 01-03-2007 09:43 AM

Just a bunch of old guys trying to re-live their youth buy buying the car of their high school dreams - Oh wait, that's why I have the Porsche...

Guys who were in their car formative years (teens) in the 60's through early 70's are how old now?

There's your answer!

Elombard 01-03-2007 10:02 AM

I just wonder if they are shooting themsleves in the foot by not broadening their horizons a bit. If everyone who is not real interested in muscle cars stops paying attention and then all the old guys die off...I understand the business argument I just wonder if long term they might miss out.

as of this am, the radio spots announced a new" rock and roll memoribila" collection! wow now thats "HOT"! lol.

the bubble will pop sooner or later. but on the other hand we picked up a cherry one owner, never wrecked spotless, low low mileage 914 2.0 outside a few years back and never even entered the auction.

many people as evidenced by classifieds(az.central.com) just join the party, but avoid actually putting cars in auction. all they have is shoe polish on window proclaiming "SE VENDE" (for-sale), so deals are to be had and are found the last few days, when owners have assumed their drastic plight.

roam around outside of show and on all the side streets. usually alot on trailers, across from penske auto mall on scottsdale road.

remember in arizona...........if it is an arizona registered vehicle, ask for smog sheet(ADEQ), to verify it passed smog. damn good indication of how well it runs. smog in maricopa(phx.) and pima counties(tucson) are VERY VERY STRICT! we are about to loose our federal highway monies due to not passing federal air quality standards. i wonder if the 365/24/7 dust has anything to do with it or is it my hi-performace 110cc weedeater that is the culprit?

this is the time of year they crawl out of the wood work. yesterday driving down scottsdale road saw porsche spyder w/# 65 on it, with driver wearing white flame suit and period correct leather gooooofy helmet! alot of people get dressed in period correct clothing and there is alot of EYE CANDY!

I watched the BJ special where they talked about the backstage stuff and the buyers. The guy in the Ferrari jacket that bought the gold prototype car for 2.7M seemed like a real ass hat. I guess it wasn't his money and he was buying it for a museum!?!?! Did a museum really want that thing for 2.7M? I doubt they send him out to buy any more cars.

Elombard 01-03-2007 01:20 PM

ass hat....thats a new one, now I have to clean the coke off the monitor.

defcon65 01-03-2007 01:51 PM

+1 fat guys, too much money, rolexes, hawaiian shirts, over-rated Detroit mediocrity...

Next guy who says 'Yenko' gets a punch in the mouth.

Looks like at least one Pelican e-mailed them and said something about the slant nose. Now it's listed as a 930 Turbo Coupe with special order paint...

trader220 01-03-2007 03:13 PM

That's the jackass that spouted off "backoff if you dont know about Ferrari's then dont bid on them" yea oh its not his money.

gan911s 01-03-2007 04:26 PM

Lots of VW's. How about the stock two tone '56 convertibles!!!
