Dull LineUp at Barrett Jackson next week...

More Porsche replicas than real Porsches, or so it seems:

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Apps/CarList/CarList.aspx?AuctionId=221&NumberPerPage=1300&ShowFilter=True

Not really worth two looks...

Whenever I tune in to the BJ Auction they've got another old Camaro or hot rod on the block. Maybe that's just the way Speed edits the program.

The hot things right now seem to be muscle cars of all varieties. BarrettJackson sure has a lot of them - probably hoping for windfall fees.

BarrettJackson is no longer a car auction. It's a show about fat old guys with lots of money and their 15 min of fame and muscle cars that just happend to have the ONLY 1968 bonneville with the radio delete AND green vinyl interior with the white inserts.

My problem with this ... is that most of these cars are not driven.
They are just a commodity for speculation.
If even 1% of these were appreciated for the engineering or design or even the times they were produced and driven in, I would be very surprised.

kinda like the following weeks golf tournament. you should try driving around thru this traffic. its like xmas holidays but worse! 30,000 traffic stops, 2800+ DUI's 700 something extreme DUI's! not exactly a safe place to drive around day or night. scottsdale/carefree/cave creek cops overwhelmed w/idiot drivers etc. cant wait til it turns 110 degrees plus and the snowbirds start dropping like flies!

No kidding - very little of interest at BJ. Much more interesting vehicles at RJ. However - do their copy writers know Porsche? They've got a beautiful 912 Targa, claim there's only 60 left in existence, and never mention the beautiful soft rear window. Go figure...

You gotta wish the guy selling the 1977 PORSCHE 911 CUSTOM COUPE luck getting even a small part of his money back - of course this is Barrett-Jackson!

"Under the 930 Turbo deck now sits an all aluminum, balanced and blueprinted Donovan small block V8 cranking out 400 high-revving horsepower with roller rockers and cam, custom headers and stainless exhaust, electronic ignition, braded aircraft lines, a custom fuel cell and more. 400hp not enough? Well, switch on the Nitrous Oxide system and you'll be laughing as you boost horsepower up over the 500 mark - the 10,000rpm tach spinning mercilessly."

...

all the work was professionally completed with in excess of $100,000 spent.

As soon as these Hawaiian shirt wearing geezers start dying off, the bottom is going to fall out of the 60s/early 70s muscle car market.

we still have 10 more days..............before the REALLY GOOFY CARS AND PRICES/people show up!

why didnt he go all out and dump a 502 injected motor in it???

as i mentioned...........the prices sought and sometimes received for INCORRECT vehicles, is just as nuts for CORRECT VEHICLES!

on some days just watching the pretty girls is worth the price of admission, let alone the laughs regarding some of these ABORTIONS!

B-J jumped the shark in my eyes this weekend when someone paid $2,000,000 for a Hemi 'Cuda convertible. Complete insanity.

If this is any clue, check out what a '77 924 with 95 horsepower, a repaint, and over 80,000 miles sold for last year:

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=182283

Damn! My '77 that was tricked out to 130hp and had only 75,000 original miles and original paint slipped out of my hands for a mere $2500! And I RAN that check to the bank!
