+1.

I think all three cars pictured above would look far better with different wheels. Yes, even the GT-3.

God no, that looks awful. You're in the spirit of the 80's with those BBS. No one is going to mistake them for anything but what you're trying to do, make them "pass" as a more modern look. I'd do the centers in silver. It was correct then and is more acceptable now than gold.

I went with a charcoal metalic. It's dark enough to mimic the Fuchs dark center look, but light enough to still show detail in the wheel center. Just a thought.

He should do (and I am sure he will) whatever he wants with his Porsche.

But he did ask for and solicit our opinions. I have never cared for BBS wheels, especially the gold wheels. They do look much better with the black centers with polished lip. That's my opinion - ymmv.

Edit: The Yellow Porsche, above, looks awesome with the grey BBS wheels.

I am with Moses on the all-black wheels. They don't make a race car look "racier" or meaner. Just look like a car with 4 spare tires.

Black or silver centers - not all black, which is hideous IMO (unless the car is flat black primer look, as the 2 ugly looks may go together well...just my opinion, of course ).

Leave them gold. Get them cleaned up real nice and sell them. Apply the new found cash to Fuchs. It's the only wheel that belongs on the 911.

Did you have these professionally painted or did you do it yourself? What paint did you use? I like the dark grey on yellow. Nice.

Just the front wheel, but maybe this helps.

I don't mind the gold so much, it does go nice with the red. That look will come back around eventually. Be different.

I used Dupli-Color High Performance wheel coating (rattle can). WP102 Graphite. Really nice stuff to use as it covers very well and dries quickly. Mine are 15", so I took the graphite out to the bolt ring to make them look like larger diameter centers. The wheels are OZ Racing with no center caps.

Black looks like crap. Keep the gold! I had bought similar period BBS wheels, also in gold centers with polished lip, and I was planning to paint them, but they look so different. I get compliments on them all the time at track days and autoxs...more than I do with the Fuchs! Old school...yes...but that was the look back then.

If you must paint, I'd go with a nice BBS light silver for the middles, and leave the lips polished.

Thanks for the info. I think they look great. Interesting idea about painting the bolt ring area too. They definitely look larger. I'm thinking about doing this to my daily driver, '92 Miata w/ 14" BBS wheels (click the sig link for pics).

Later,
Mike

Another vote for Magnesium gray and leave the polished rims alone. Gold has to go - too 80's. Or if you really need to follow the flock - black with polished rims.

Wheel test...

That would be a tough masking job.
