What year is it? 1977
Is it a Cab, Coupe, or Targa? Coupe What motor does it have? 2.7 What Trans does it have? 915 How many miles does it have? 279k How long have you used it as your daily driver? nearly 4 years This car was purchased as a weekend fun toy, until I discovered I could fit kids car seats in the back. Then it dawned on me, why not drive it every day? It is so much fun, even to commute in. So it truly is a daily driver. I'm a recent transplant to the South from Seattle, and I'm finally appreciating what A/C is in the summer. Ironically the car that I only used to drive up skiing (Audi S6) is now seeing lots more use in the summer here as my 911 doesn't have A/C.

It's very easy to drive a 911 every day, especially if it has the stock exhaust and euro or US ride-height.
Once you open up the exhaust and drop the ride height significantly it's more difficult to daily drive depending on the distance. I logged almost 30K miles in one year. I stopped daily driving my car for several reasons. 1 - Cracked Windshield. That one hurt. 2 - My body took a beating traveling 1.5 hours one way. (Sport Muffler, Sport cat, Significantly Lowered) 3 - Too many miles. It was just not a good idea driving 100 miles per day in a 911 on the interstate. The novelty never wore off. It never got old. I loved every second of the drive. When it was 50 - 90 degrees outside, the top came off. I wish I lived closer to work, I would still be driving it if work was only 10 - 15 miles away. Oh and it was a blast to drive in the snow! Still have the snow tires, but I don't plan on ever using them again. As long as the snow was not high enough to hit the bottom of the car, it was unstoppable. Like a little snow cat.

I have to admit though by the end of the work week, I just want to goto sleep. It definitely DOES take a lot of energy to drive these cars even if you are unaware of it. Turbos and SWB cars are even more draining. I still do it, every day, anyways!

85 Carrera Targa.
engine 3.2 tranny 915. color: red miles: 127k. The car is not a daily driver but I do use it to work 1 to 2 times every other week. However, for the past week I have to use it daily since my daily driver is down. It is a 50 mile one way to work. Althgouh it is fun to drive the car, I have a different mentality when driving to work. It is not the same when you are just drving for fun without thinking that you have to be somewhere.

My Pcar is a 1980 911SC with 3.0 ltr engine and 5 speed tranny. It is black metallic with a black/tan interior. I have owned it for a little over 6 years and in that time have put about 45,000 miles on it. Currently the odometer reads 125,000. Other than some interior repairs (headliner, etc.) and some maintenace items (ball joints, shocks, brake pads, etc.) the only mods have been SSI exhaust, MSD ingnition and a fuse block rebuilt to use ATO style fuses. It is extremely reliable and gets 17-18 mpg in town and 25-27 mpg on the road. I just put on my second full set of tires about 2,000 miles ago. A tranny rebuild for new synchros is in the planning stage as is a paint job. Meanwhile, with the old paint I don't mind driving on dirt or gravel roads. Driving this car makes it fun going to work!

Black 1985 Carrera Coupe
3.2 w/ 915 gearbox currently 76,000 miles I'm driving the car to work as often as the weather allows (which isn't too often in spring in Michigan) and any time I can on the weekends. My daily commute to work is about 45 miles round trip unless I have to call on any customers, then it can be as much as 100+ miles. I plan on driving this car as much as possible, that's why I bought it!

Until about 2 1/2 yr ago, when I moved my office to my home, it was driven nearly every day, from about the end of March until mid December, since March 1989. Now it's maybe 3 or 4 days per week. The car is a 77 sunroof coupe w/ a modified 80 SC engine (3.2L), a 915/8:31 tranny and 180,000 MILES. Since 89, I've put on half the total mileage.

Some weeks I drive it everyday, some weeks a bit less. Depends on my mood but I don't care about rain etc. These things were meant to be driven...

1982 911
Targa Currently 97,000 Miles I usually drive it 3-4 times a week during the nice weather (September through May). I take the VW with A/C when it's too hot or in wet weather. I also use it more when I need to pock up the kids, they have been brainwashed ![]() I would drive it more but I need to rotate usage of the other vehicles.

Yup...daily driver. Didn't start off that way, but a week after I bought the 911 my mini-truck "bought it" at the hands of a Cadillac (er, rather, the nose of the Caddy).
Got it with 88k on the odo...now has 96 I think (since 2004). Stock 81 SC Targa...well, it's lowered, and has the carrera tensioners and pop-off valve.

For the most part, my 83 cab is an almost daily driver. Why have it if you are not going to enjoy driving it is what I say. I grew up around street rodding and was always amazed at the cars that never "hit" the streets. If it is REALLY bad weather, I will drive the truck. Also, Another guy from work and I switch off driving every day, so the 911 awaits in the garage every other day - unless my wife has been sneaking it out! Still need to repair the rear view mirror she broke.

I have been using my 1977 Porsche 911 as a daily driver car for about 8 years in a row. My father bought me that car when I was a senior in high school, and I have been using it ever since. That car have drive me from high school, to college and to law school. Of couse I have done some mechanic work. Also the 911 was red when I got it and know is black.

Every day (When I am here) regardless of rain, snow, whatever. Why would I want to drive something boring. She has 190,000 KMs and is still going strong, even though we are suddenly having staring problems. Gotta get her fixed so we can get back to drivin'.

In Sweden? Not likely.
Even with rather mild winters like the last one, people drive like morons creating accidents which in turn forces the authorities to fill the roads with so much salt it is ridiculous. From May to October I use her almost as my daily driver though.
