Lightbulb Show me your hot rod Targa.

This may be the shortest "show me" thread around since the Targe is probably not the best platform from which to build a hot rod from, but...if you've got one, I'd love to see it! (It's looking like my Targa may not sell, so I'm starting to think about what I'd do to her if I kept her for long term.) I'd especially like to see any longhood hot rods (as I'm still planning on a backdated car someday), but of course I'd love to see them all!

Thanks in advance!

Man Art I love that color! And yes, eventually I'd put Webers / PMOs on it.

I'll post pics when I get home tomorrow. I'm babysitting the refinery tonight. In the meanwhile:

What I've got and what I've done. Started out as a clean '86 Targa in a sorta garnet metallic. Had a 125K 3.2 and 915 in excellent condition. Sold the 3.2 to Shuie and sold my '63 Panhead to build up the $$$ supply. Distributed afore mentioned funds to various purveyors of Porsche performance for the following:

Installed low mile immaculate '97 Vram 3.6 using Timmons kit. Sent Motronic to Deutchland for remap.
Installed Setrab 2ndary oil cooler under the front bumper.
Installed fan on existing fender mounted Carrera oil cooler.
Rebuilt 915 with new synchros, Wevo intermediate bearing plate.
Added internal spray bar, circulating pump and oil cooler.
Lightened flywheel and Sachs power clutch w/ new TO bearing.
Welded up dual exhaust using using some short glasspacks. Kinda obnoxious when you put you foot in it.
Kept stock exhaust headers/heat exchangers.
New sport motor mounts.
Poly bronze bushings front and rear.
Bilsteins front and rear.
Sanders hollow torsion bars, 22/29.
930 brakes with 23mm master cylinder.
New front ball joints, bearings and seals.
Replaced shift coupler bushings with bronze inserts a member of this website machined up. They work great!
Installed Wevo gate shifter kit to stock shifter housing. Also works great!
Added a set of BBS rims in 7.5 and 9 with mo rubber.
Had top redone by Cars, Inc. Excellent work.

I'm now the proud owner of a car I can never sell for even close to what I've got in it. It has run great from day one. It's very fast and corners well. Could use some aftermarket sways though. I also need to put the AC back in it. Summers are miserable in New Orleans.

Mike

P.S. In retrospect, it seems kinda dumb to have added all this speed stuff to a Targa. I shoulda bought a coupe. It's a kickass Targa though!

what size are these tires? And are these just turbo flares, or are they wider RSR size?

My old '73T Targa -

930 Flairs
255/45-15 Yokos on 9x15 Fuchs
345/35-15 Yokos on 12x15 3pc Fuch replicas
2.4L w/ Webers and Supertraps
Short geared 915
Wicked fun that car was. The targa top was seldom on.

Those same wheels and tires were on the posermobile (red SC) for a few years. I recently sold my last set of 345s to a Pelican on the East coast. It sux that these tires are NLA.
