oregonmon, I have the exact same symptoms that you have, but I have a couple more symptoms. Along with not being able to put it into gear easily or at all, I smell burning rubber/clutch when driving it. I also have a vibration when driving it.
I think the cable and master/slave cylinders look good from the outside, so next step is to have the mechanic drop the motor and take the clutch apart. I had 2 different mechanics look at it and diagnose that they believe 100% it's the "exploding" rubber-centered clutch that came apart on me. My car is a 3.2, and my quoted cost is over $1500 for parts & labor, probably closer to $2000 with the updated fork that I will need. So consider $1000 not too bad at all

I was just taking my neighbor out for a scream after installing the new subwoofer. My clutch pedal went to the floor on a 180km/h climb up a long grade. I thought (hoped) my clutch cable had snapped, but after limping it home (starts really well in 1st gear it turns out) i discovered that something internal has let go. It feels as if my TO bearing has popped off the pressure plate. Either that , or the TO fork has broken. Looks like I get to do my 2nd engine drop now. At least the Sub sounds good!!

I got the car back with a new clutch assembly (big difference, no more sloppy slipping of the clutch), machined flywheel, valve adj., timing adj., oil change, plugs, air/fuel adj., rear main sea, throttle linkage bushing, and another seal for the oil thermostat.
Ater a day or two of trying to get all the adjustments right, the car runs super strong and has gotten rid of that annoying bucking problem in low gears at low rpm. Paid about $1320. By the way he showed me the old clutch and to say the least the rubber center was wasted as well as the TO beaing.

There are a couple people on Rennlist who swear that the spring center clutch is really noisy, if not outright loud. That's my only concern. See it here: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=274378

My mechanic replaced mine with spring center and I don't have any of those symptoms those guys are complaining about on that Rennlist thread.
Mine seems smoother than before and I don't notice any noise.
