BIG BEAR V - The great summer sequel...
Ok, June is coming up fast and since this has not been mentioned yet, I'll start the planning for BIG BEAR V. Last year was an amazing run and we had over 60 cars. So help me out, sign up and lets plan and commit to the run to top all previous runs and lets wake up Big Bear to the sound of a hundred Porsche engines.
Saturday, June 23, 2007 OFFICIAL MEETING TIME: 8AM - JUNE 23, 2007. LOCATION: STARBUCKS IN REDLANDS ADDRESS: 627 Orange St., Redlands, CA 92374 ![]() "Start at Starbucks in Redlands (627 Orange St., Redlands, CA 92374). Proceed up Highway 38 to the Big Bear area. Once in town, we'll make a right on Stanfield Cutoff (crossing the east edge of the lake to the north side). We'll turn left on North Shore Drive and then immediately left again into the MWD East Boat Ramp for a scenic rest and pictures. Past runs have used this parking area and it looks to be the best one available. From there it's on to the Gold Pan restaurant, the traditional eatery of past Big Bear runs (39204 North Shore Dr., Fawnskin, CA 92333). From there, continue Highway 38 (North Shore Drive) to the junction of 18 at the dam. Continue on 18 to the 330 at Running Springs, and then down 330 to Starbucks on Baseline Street ( 27615 Baseline St Highland, CA 92346)." Copied from last year. BIG BEAR IV

I grew up in Running Springs, and still recall carving turns up Hwy 330, then across Hwy 18, racing the entire way from Highland to Big Bear, and sometimes back down via Hwy 38.
The late night races were very popular in the late 70's. I'd love to burn it up in our 911, but age and sense have replaced youth and beer

HI Chris,
Looks like another great run. I am in. I will check my schedule to log my vote (for a day preference).

We're in if our schedule permits. June 17th is the concours on Rodeo event, so our preference would be the 16th. LeMans is that weekend as well - would be nice to go for a ride and get back home for some LeMans on Tivo! We might be traveling the next weekend, but don't know at this point. Thanks very much for proposing another run!!

The later the date the better for me. Last year was mucho fun. Here's a pic on the way home with Rob D. The second pic is my car as of last Sunday. We will try to be ready.

All that paper is going to make it hard to see while you're out on the road
I am going to bid for the days off and hopefully make it. I remember pics from last years event and you had quite the turn out. So far I've only taken the car as far as Irvine (15 miles or so)!

Any chance of doing it earlier in June -- say the 2nd, 3rd, 9th or 10th? (It'll be cooler, too.)
