Touching up metallic paint?
I just put a scratch in my new paint job, (actually, about 8 months old). It's only 1" by 1/8" but, it's forever going to annoy me. My paint is Artic Silver. How easily is it touched up? BTW, it's on a front quarter panel...I wish it were a door or a hood, I'd just have him shot it down again.
Thanks all, Greg

Greg, touching up metallics, especially silver is tough. You will want to apply the touch up paint in thin layers. If you apply it too heavy and wet, the metallic will settle out and make the color look dark and mottled.
Apply a few thin layers and you should be okay. Ideally, you will add a lyer of clear over the silver touch up to help with color match and to prevent it from oxidizing. Regards, Ed Also in NJ.
