Very close looking but there is positively a difference in India vs. Guards red. If you have to match paint today and even with providing the paint code, well known paint suppliers get it wrong too. I know from experience and wasn't happy when PPG screwed up. Obviously there is no metallic and the reds have a strong pigment but if you blend a panel, it shows the difference.
In the mid to late 80's the 3.2, turbos and 944's in G1 paint code dominated the dealer lots. Even in 89, Porsche's first 250 964 models in the US were G1. Just look at the 1989 Christophorus issue with the 964's on the front cover... you can't miss that. |
