My '86 Carrera Coupe just turned 120,000 miles this summer. Still a baby. Had valve guides done at 88K and "while in there" new cylinders, pistons and valve job as well as a 915 rebuilt and new clutch. This is my pleasure car and I drove it only 2500 miles this summer but it had spent 2 months at the body shop for some cosmetic work and honestly looks like new now.

My driver (almost daily) is a 1973.5 911T with a '75 2.7S motor. It only has 54K miles on the clock! But this is probably more likely 254K or 354K miles.

The biggest problem up here in the Pacific Northwest is rain for 10 months of the year and about 3 to 4 months with salt, so rust is more of an issue for the '73 than mechanicals. I don't drive the Carrera in the winter anymore, but it still gets driven in the rain.

I am at 236,000 miles with mine, and the thing still pulls like a freight train. Looking forward to seeing 250,000 by the end of next year if all goes well.

'84, relatively new to me, with 230k, and no known engine work. Engine still runs strong, but the rest needs refreshing. It's been on jackstands for 2 months now, while I work on the brakes, suspension, and deletes.

Unfortunately, none for me.
It was from a pretty decent looking SC that had a light engine fire.
Still brought close to $5k at an insurance auction.

My Heros

This is the thread that is pushing me over the top. My original work car was a 2000 Maxima with 340K on it. Now the 87 is going to get the similar treatment ! Better A/C so I can wring it out miles per year wise. Has 210k on it now, engine rebuild at 190K by me so I fully expect it to go to 400k this time if I live that long. I was telling myself that 10k per year was a nice goal, now I'm thinking 25k or so if I can stay cool enough for the summer months. Of course I know there will be "times" but they make a nice story. Not saving it for anyone else, always smile when I'm driving it. Thanks for reminding me why we have these cars.

Good to see these great reports of high mileage driving! According to the good Dr., Porsches should/need to be driven ~ often!!!

Purchased a 1984 M491 optioned Carrera Coupe back in 1998 with a 110,000 mi. Happy to report this daily driver is just shy of 275K miles (442KM).
With less than 100 miles to go. I'll be there fast...

Original 3.2 engine/gear box ~ no major work, just minor upgrades and still runnin' strong to work @ currently 60 miles/day plus weekend fun runs!
"Leave for work a bit late, then try to arrive just a tad early".

On another note...

Pity.

I'm not sure if spuggy was commenting on these particular grill badges, but PCNA declined. To discretely display your high mileage, there are a few samples remaining from my original run. If interested, I'll share. PM me.
