Hey Tony!
Happy New Year!
I am trying to remember what I did a few months ago with this wiring. I had the engine out for two years (broke a ring at the track in late 08). I am wringing out the wiring...I have some new devices, an MSD 6-AL, the Brian Leask RPM solenoid switch and an MSD Boost Timing Master. I also have a J&S Safeguard with some knock sensors I installed, but I am not wiring that in until after I get the car sorted a bit. I don't think anything is wrong yet, just trying to remember if the WUR is polarity sensitive. I don't think it is.
Pat

So, in post #19, I lamented that my dumbness carried over for four years. Make that five years. I still don't remember which way the Amp Jr connector should be wired. I suppose I will take an old WUR apart and see.

Can I simply check resistance to ground on either terminal? If it is polarity sensitive, I would imagine one terminal to ground will give me a non-zero ohm reading, and the other will be a zero resistance. This is for the wiring on the test stand I built, BTW. I hate to rip the wiring apart on the harness to check which way I wired it.

TIA!
Pat

WUR resistance check.........

Pat,

Set your instrument to resistance (Ohms) and place the probes' tips to the terminals (WUR) and read the meter. It does not matter which terminal is connected to your probe tip, it would give same reading. Are you doing this for your engine test stand? I re-read some of the early posts in this thread and there were numerous misconceptions in the posts (old). Since then we have learned more about wiring diagrams.

Hey Tony,
Yes, this is for the stand. I agree the WUR heater element should not be polarity depemdant, but I recall toasting a WUR once due to reversed polarity, so I want to try and avoid that again. The stand is almost done, just waiting for my fuel head to come back from Alabama and some new Amp Jr connectors and pin sets. Hopefully, I can get the engine running on it this week, and see how it works. I'll drop you a PM tomorrow.
Pat

Thanks!
Pat
