Depends on where you look.
Just in the Porsche 911 Buyer's Guide the weights fluctuate between 2760 and 2670 for '84-86, but a C/D article that someone scanned shows 2760 as the weight of a car with sunroof, A/C and spoilers. The buyer's guide shows 2756 for the G50 models, but who knows what heavy options that includes. It also says to add 110lbs for Turbo look.

I believe PAG quoted 1210 kg/2670 lbs for all Carrera year models. But maybe they were primarily referring to ROW cars. My completely stock coupe 85 (with A/C) tips the scales at exactly 1210 kg with half a tank and no driver.

Thanks guys! Looks like we may have the factory quotes for the 87-89 models. Anyone have it for the 84-86 models? I am thinking a 84-86 factory Turbo Look might be very close to the weight of a G50 transmission Carrera normal. ![]() |

The PCA rule book lists class weights for all models. I do not know how these were determined of if there is some manipulation. This is what they list:
2812lbs for the 915 Carrera 2906lbs for the G50 Carrera 2922lbs for the 915 Factory Turbo Look I guess one can conclude the G50 Carrera's (87-89) weigh basically the same as the 915 TL. The early TL has bigger brakes, a couple of square feet of added sheet metal in the fenders, a little more mass in the hubs & rear arms, and a turbo tail. The G50 has a heaver clutch pack and transmission. I guess they could be comparable. |

For reference, when I weighed my 84 Carrera I came in right at 2800 lbs with no spoilers.

Last weekend the HCRPCA DE had scales. My "84" Turbo Look with 17 gals + or - of fuel was 2,799 lbs.

Amazing how many variations there are on this. My understanding for ROW Coupe cars is as follows
84-86 is 2557 lb or 1160 Kg 87-89 is 2667 lb or 1210 Kg These weights are with no sunroof, no spoilers, no Aircon. Also 84-86 models were also with 15inch wheels where later models came with 16 inch wheels which probably added a bit. For american cars I think that the above numbers would be higher as they came with alot of options as standard (eg aircon). Wish there was a definitive source listing every variation from every country in one place.

My car has Fuchs 7&8's, LSD, Factory electric sport seats, SR, leather, but not spoilers. Weighed on a Scale at the dump transfer station. Do not remember how much gas was in the car. I thought the TL's were supposed to be pigs. I guess if you had a G50 cab TL with all the trimmings... |

Yep I would love to know the weight difference between a Carrera with spoilers and matching equipment to a Turbo look.

I guess I am thinking one of your members went light weight with a G50 Carrera normal down to 2350 to 2400 lbs and it still had a steel hood and sunroof.
Thinking a striped TL with a fiber hood, tail, bumpers, race seats... could get close to the 2300's. ![]() |

It looks like a G50 car weighs about 100 lbs more. Looks like a TL weighs 100 lbs more again. I think a rear Turbo spoiler is about 20-30 lbs. The Carrera has cast iron brake calipers to the TL's alloy ones. But the TL rotors are bigger. I think there is another bearing race in a 930 rear arm, some added spacer/material to get the rims 2" further out... Basically the difference looks to be mostly the rotors and rear spoiler??? Some site the TL's added frontal area as a draw back. Wonder it the reduced drag of a Turbo Spoiler makes up for that at all over a non spoiler Carrera normal. I also wonder how much the added almost 2" track on each side (8% + wider track) helps handling dynamics. |

yep I wonder what the difference in weight is between a Carrera spoiler and a turbo spoiler, couldn't be much more that 10 pounds if that? Most carreras I see at track days are running 8s/9s ****s and bigger brakes anyway as the stock carrera brakes aren't too popular over here...
