Post 86 911 Auto Heat

Can anyone tell me what the range of movement
of the heater valve bellcrank is? I found the
servo control rod end pulled off which explains the lack of heat for the past couple years and am about to replace the part with
the "new and improved" ctrl. rod ($18+!)but
want to make sure the bellcrank isn't being
limited in movement. I can move it by hand thru an arc of about 1"to1.5". Does this sound about right? Is there a quick check to
determine whether the heater valve is opening and closing to the max extent? Thanx in advance for any light any of you can shed! And the seat rail screws were as tough as previous posts promised!!

your motion range sounds normal. you can do it with out pulling the seats. the new ball sockets are real hard to pop over the balls. the dealer has the updated sockets. use a long, broad screwdriver blade to pop the socket onto the motor ball. if both valves close under the car with the lever up it works.

Thanks John! Anything else you'd advise I check on, lubricate, adjust, massage while I'm in there? I have it totally dismantled so
I'd like to insure it'll be another 15 yrs
before I have to do that again!
