external thermostat inner diameter?
Hi,
I'm installing external oil cooler in my 2.2E. I bought aftermarket external oil thermostat which has 9mm inner diameter. Is it in your opinion enough to free flow of oil via it??? Marcin

Marcin,
I was just searching on "thermostat" and found your question. IMO 9mm is not large enough. The OE thermostat is...one sec while I run to the garage..17mm inside diameter. Also I have learned from this forum that the OE thermostat "protects the cooler from cold pressure spikes" and "shunts oil back to the tank under peak demands". I was also advised to trash the aftermarket thermostat and go with an OE unit. HTH |
