With the "invention" of the pop off valve, this stainless upgrade is a pretty silly idea. It is probably heavier than the plastic. Maybe it was invented back when the air boxes would explode.

Unless you need a new air box anyway, why bother?

I would disagree, from my experience I have had nothing but trouble with my pop-off valve. I have spent good money getting my CIS in top shape. Plastic to me doesn't seem to be the way to go. I have read several posts with people w/plastic boxes w/pop-offs that have either cracked or exploded. IMHO this seems like a better design.

The later CIS cars (like my 83) have that aluminum pipe circuit with the AAR AAV and Decel Valve all plumbing to right under the coldstart valve. I dont see where there is a provision for this on this Webbs box.

What am I missing?

There is a phenolic block (like a standoff) that goes between the CSV and the airbox. It has a tube sticking out at around 7:00 as you look at it from the back. That is where the short piece of rubber hose from the aluminum pipe connects with a hose clamp.

that pipe attaches to a red plastic piece sandwiched between the cold start valve and the airbox body.

+ 1 here as a result from a nasty backfire caused by arcing wet spark clewett plug wires with the woven heat shielding.

Solution: epoxy and new plug wires....MSD 8.5's
