front seat replacement
While I save money to restore my stock seats in an SC, I'd like to have something cheap and sporty. Found a good deal on some Acura Integra seats, but it looks like the tracks are a little wider and longer, and i havent been able to look at the mounting holes on the integra tracks. Anyone have experience fitting non Porsche seats into an SC or think it would be a problem to retrofit? Thanks

I got some Recaro LS seats cheap (free) from a member here, had them recovered to match the new RS door panels and RS Carpet.....so they werent really free afterall....but I love the new look of the interior.
Slippery slope strikes again.

Oh....forgot to mention...all I had to do was add 3/4 inch aluminim square stock from home depot as a spacer under the tracks to raise the seats just a little as they sat much lower that the stock seats did.

Looking on ebay there are seats listed as JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) for as little as $149 pair (!) but there are many others for up to $6, 7, 800. I notice that the one pair of used real Recaros from a Porsche shot up to $500 immediately. I also noticed that one Pelicaneer had tried Recaro seats from a BMW but they were slightly too wide. As a narrow assed Englishman I am thinking the JDM seats might be a good fit....

Hammerhead,
I've bought and sold a number of seat sets over the past year and a half. Any of the Recaro's from LS's to SRD's will fit with a simple set of sliders available for approx. $50 each. I just recovered a set of LS's like Stormaster's and I'm pleased with them though I've some work to do on the color. I bought them off of Craigslist for a $100 bucks. I love that they weigh half (approx.) that my worn stock seats weigh. Plus they are far more comfortable and being tall I prefer the lower mount. I also like how they look. They were factory options on a '74 Carrera that I owned. Check Stormaster's they look great and he has an '87. Have some patience and look in your local area for vintage Recaro's. Try and find local as they're expensive to ship and pictures don't tell the whole story. Crushed worn foam support etc. Lots of deals to be had if you look hard. Regards and if you'd like to ask some questions PM me, Scott

You're going to "spend" money on seats while "saving" to restore your other ones? Why not just restore the other ones now?
