I know the traffic is still pretty heavy at 10:00 but nothing like 8:00. I will go straight through and with a passenger I can take the ROV lane.. That's usually pretty quick unless somebody decides to read someone else's tag...up close and personal!!
I'm gonna explore coming back...Maybe go over to Knoxville and catch some of the twisties.........Of course I may be just plum wore out and just go HOME.
Yes, i go to FAY alot also, but what is your route? They dont have HOV lanes on 75/285/20 outside the perimeter.

I don't really have a good route. I can go down to Florence, Ala and across to I 65 and take 65 down to Birmingham. There catch I 20 and take it all the way to I 95 then up to Fayetteville. This is pretty much a 4 lane/ interstate route. Not very exciting but pretty efficient.
I can take hwy 64 out of Savannah, Tn all the way to Chattanooga and then take I75 down to Atlanta and I 20 and continue on.
I am open to anything that will speed up the trip. Hep me out!!! I'm sure you go that way a bunch more than me. I have never been to Fayetteville. Colombia was as far as I went(Ft Jackson..I think) and I went the easiest way for me to keep up with. Send me some directions...I ain't skeered

Hmmm, you're kind of in the middle of nowhere there,.. I think I might take 65 south, and cut across at Gadsen, Al., but I-20 to I-95 is the fastest way once in ATL.

If you take the Knoxville route, you will not disappointed, plenty of back roads to escape on. Then drop down toward Charlotte and just take 74 east. If you do please feel free to drop by Zuffenhaus or if you have any problems call.

I am definitely in the middle of nowhere but....I am on the banks of the beautiful Tennessee river in Savannah, Tn.."The Catfish Capital of the World" or so the sign says!!! Also home of Darrell Worley("Have you forgotten")and quite a number of scoundrels and whiskey runners

Aaron, I most definitely would like to drop down and give y'all a visit.. Matter of fact how far are y'all from Fayetteville and how do ya get there? I promise to park my car far enough away that no one would think it was at your place on purpose
I really considered the "Northern" route but I don't trust the weather this time of year up in the mountains. Coming home I may chance it if the weather forecast looks promising.

Good news David, The 911 is street worthy, a little smoke still but not as much, I'm taking it for an Italian tune up tomorrow. But its good to go. And I also have the Fuchs on with new rubber.

Good deal, I'm not gonna be leaving as early as I had originally planned. Got a dense fog advisory for early in the morning. I will get to Fayetteville in the evening hours...
Ain't new shoes great!!! Looking forward to meeting everyone. My son was telling me he had seen several Porsches since he got back and asked me if I thought that one of them was yours..I told him I didn't have a clue since I had never seen yours.
We are gonna try to find someone to keep my grandaughter/his daughter Saturday morning. I would like for him to go on a drive with us. See ya soon.

Got back home around 7:00pm tonight(Sunday). Pretty uneventfull car wise. Didn't even use a quart of oil in almost 1500 miles of driving. I took the southern route going. Got caught in major traffic problem in Birmingham. I 65 south was shut down so I had to go through town to I 20. Took over an hour. Everything else was good. Coming back I took the northern route which just had to include "The Tail of the Dragon" . This was my first trip on it. No traffic to speak of. Too cold for motorcycles and I only got behind two other vehicles and they let me pass. I met a Corvette and two trucks in the oncoming traffic. It was so cold I was afraid my summer tires might be a little hard but they did good enough to have a little fun. By the time I got to Knoxville the temp was close to the twenties. Not good for a car with headers. By the time I got home my feet were chunks of ice...but I was still smiling.
Porsche G.I It was great getting to meet you and your super cute kids. I'm glad you recomended IHOP. I wish we could have gone driving but oh well. I didn't get to go over to Pope to meet JM Shepard and E Porsche. Josh and one of his buddies decided to take his Jeep through a mud hole. A little deeper than they thought... When they finally got back they look like drowned, muddy rats...but grinnin'. It was almost 3:00 and I didn't think I could get inspected twice and then find them before they were gone.
Thanks to everyone who offered help and their numbers. I'm soooo glad I didn't have to test anyone .
I didn't have a chance to take many pictures (except of my grandaughter ) but I will post the ones I did take tomorrow. The camera is in the car and it's too d@^n cold to go back out to get it tonight. I'm sure glad he's home safe and I hope the same for those of you who have son's and daughter's and brothers and sisters deployed and at home. This was a great Christmas present to me!!

David glad you made it home. It was great meeting you too, too bad we couldnt have that drive. It sounds like Josh and his friends found a good mudding spot. Anyways, it was great meeting you, maybe well get together again someday and have that drive.
