Looking for Dad's old 1973 Sepia 911T Coupe. Any sleuths out there?
I'm looking at my dad's old sales brochure from 1973. Low and behold his window sticker for his 1973 911T falls out. He bought it brand new from Jimmy Payne Porsche/Audi in Memphis, TN while in Navy Advanced Jet training in Meridian, MS. He eventually sold it circa 1990 in Barrington, IL. I am wondering if it is still in existence. I can't look it up via Carfax or Autocheck because of the age. Enlisting any folks who know how to find old Porsche's.
INFO: 1973 911T Sepia Brown Coupe Serial No. 9113103239 I'd love to locate it for him. Any help greatly appreciated..

That is cool.
Did you also post this on the Early 911S Registry BBS (http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/index.php)? Some one there may know something.

Do you know anyone in law enforcement? They should be able to run the VIN and "if" it is still on the road and "if" it is registered, and tell you who the registered owner is. The only issue I see with that is 1) they aren't supposed to do it for personal reasons 2) the short VIN on the early 911's may be a problem for he computers which are used to the longer VIN's in circulation today.
That is pretty cool to have the receipt by the way.

I have a 1973.5T in Sepia Brown here in Georgia (Atlanta). I just checked my VIN No. and its not that far off from your dad's car. Mine was bought at a dealer in Birmingham, Alabama.
I usually show up at the Avenue Mall in Marietta (east of Johnson Ferry Rd off Roswell Rd) the first sunday of each month where several hundred cars show up between 8 - 11 for a get together. Normally a ton of Porsches come by, but I am the only 73.5T Sepia in the crowd. The car was restored and looks great. Stop by some time if you want to take some photos for your dad. ![]() Regards Bob |

Well, It's not mine, my Sn. is : 9113101756 It's not Sepia Brown anymore. It was Red when I bought it in 1991. It is now White. There is still some Brown left, like under the dash.

Most DMVs will provide what they call here a vehicle abstract which shows current and past owners based on VIN. I'm sure laws vary state to state, but at least here in Ontario it's public info, and not protected by privacy laws. There is a fee, however.
The problem with this method is you need to contact each individual DMV and be prepared to pay a fee. edit: Carfax wouldn't tell you who owns it, anyway. It would, though, tell you what state it was last registered and/or plated in.
