RSR Bumper Opinion Sought!!
HI,
I am converting a '70 911E to a RSR clone. I thought that I had a RSR front bumper, but it is coming up about 2 inches short on each side. Assuming that this bumper is not the correct one, I am going to buy one from one of the companies that sells these parts. My questions is simple, who do you think makes the best parts. I would base the answer on quality of product, fitment and price. So, what do you think? Thanks to those who are willing to render an opinion. Tim Boyer

fiberglass bumpers.......
Tim,
I bought a fiberglass front valence from GT-Racing in Colorado. While it is for an SC/Carrera body, it fit perfectly. I don[t have any experience with their full front bumper, I expect it would be of similar quality. Plus, Joel (owner) is very pleasant to work with and did a good job of getting my parts to me properly boxed and in a timely manner. Hope this helps.

Mine is from TRE. The quality and fit are exceptional.

Looks awesome, Jack. Is that a 964 smile?

I have a question regarding the smile on Jacks car. What is it and do they make it for a narrow body? Looks awsome by the way.

TRE has very good glass. And they use their product on cars, not just make the stuff. So, they know when the parts aren't right. And, if you have a problem and can substantiate it, it will get fixed.
It's a tough business and I declined to go back into the FG business a 3rd time in my life simply because I don't know who is on the other end of the sale, an idiot or someone who knows how FG works. Dave knows. |

The factory RSR's and 3.0 RS didn't come with a smile, just some welt between the fenders and the bumper as pictured below on a real 3.0 RS. IMO on a street RSR conversion the 965 smile gives the car a more "finished" look but perhaps not quite as racy-looking. I would think the regular narrow body smile would work on a '74-89 impact bumper car with stock fenders and a RSR style bumper...but I don't recall seeing one, so that is a good question. Anybody done that?
