Know this topic has been covered before but can't seem to find the thread or the tech article.
Have removed my spring plates from the car and want to know the trick on how to remove those old worn out rubber bushings???? Found the article on removing from the front suspension but not from the rear spring plate |

I heat up the inside of the spring plate and the bushing will peal right off, mostly.

the torch works, sometimes i've gotten lucky and had to only use a moderate amount of heat, other times I've had to heat them until they've practically burned/melted off.

I have to change out my bushings on my 1973.5T, but I do not have a way of pulling them straight out as I would have to remove the lower rocker panel.
What is the secret to removing the torsion bar from the bushing plate? The car afterall is over 35 years old! Thanks Bob |

You should have a torsion bar removal plate under the rocker trim. Actually, you should be able to see the top of the plate sticking above the trim:
