Get off my lawn!
|
That is scary. I bought one back in 1997 for my 85 Carrera right from the dealer. Hopefully someone will come up with a source.

Funny enough, the A/C in my 85 is actually producing pretty cold air. Its not like in a water cooled car but still, cold enough to be useful on a hot day.

Get off my lawn!

Yesterday at the autocross is was 95 degrees and 45% humidity. There is no shade at all. I was hot and so was the car. The A/C did not make me cold on the 12 mile trip home but it sure felt great. I had stopped sweating and was very comfortable.

I've got a '79 and figured, well, if the car is air cooled, then so shall I be...
I took the A/C out and along with a few other items lost 95lbs in one day. It was a long day--removal was a b**ch even with a lift, but well worth it for my car. One thing to bear in mind: for me anyway, after taking out the full HVAC system, there was pretty much no going back. I could not imagine reinstalling all that stuff. I've spent a lot of time in SLC/Provo/Orem and know it gets mighty hot there in the summer. One suggestion--if you have another car, drive it around with no A/C on, windows down, roof back and see how you like it. Have a significant other? Bring along and get a second opinion. I'm sure you don't want to make your Targa a 1 seater with this removal...which is essentially what my 911 is now.

Sounds like a win/win situation.

After reading all of the opinion, I am going to try and fix or update my AC.
Thanks.
