Back in the day, the race cars that wanted run wider wheels in the back found it easier/cheaper to find/use "8 spokes" (panasports/minilites etc) than Fuchs. So many period cars have the mismatch. I think it looks cool.

Fuchs didn’t come wider than 7” or 8”, can’t recall which, at the time of the first STs so Minilites were used

earliest 8x15 Fuch I've seen or heard of was 2/71

earliest RPO option 8x15 was for the '74 MY Carrera 2.7RS

I suppose that some of the Minilight cars might have had 8s in back but the rules for the STs allowed +2 wheels which is 8 & 9

here's the earliest ST that I've seen w/ possibly 8 & 9 Fuchs, this is a factory pic of a '72ST

there were 9ET3 which can be fitted to the back of an ST

before they fit the ST flares in '71 the widest 911 wheels were7 ET23.3 front and 7ET49 w/ spacers in back
see the post above

My 1986. Finally got my hands dirty and installed adjustable spring plates and with a lot of trial and error getting the stance where I want it.
