The right stance

I like the way my car ended up. A little lower than euro spec, but I can get in and out of most driveways without rubbing my front valence on the ground. Really cannot go lower in the back because I am very close to rubbing tire against fender.

If you're able to calculate the usable range of your shocks go as low as you dare, just remember that other systems, such as steering, are all affected by excessive lowering. That's why Euro height is a beautiful "stance," when you see it you'll know that it will work as Porsche intended.

I know it's not a 911 (picture below), but the principle is the same. In order to get my E/P car this low required a helluva lot of work, like raised front spindles, fabricated rear lower shock mounts and raised rear upper shock towers, as well as a partial redesign of the steering.

For me, "stance" must equate to beauty + function. If it's lowered but doesn't work, then it's too low!

+1

Porsche tend to get these details right,

Here is my 1972 911T. I love the stance of this car, which was professionally set up. Incidentally, I currently have this particular car for sale through California Porsche Restoration (cprclassic.com) on consignment. Cheers.

Beautiful, beautiful car. You owe it to yourself to put the correct side stripes on the car.

What do you think is the "correct" stripe?

Don't want to be obtuse, but what is the definition of ...... "the Right Stance"?

Is it the combination of tires, wheels and ride height or is it those elements + the visual aspects of the sprung weight?

I'd really hate for Porsche owners to acquiesce to concours or "me-too" types with identical-looking cars. It's just a personal thing. I'd like to think that, there are 1431 or so (at this point) opinions of "their Right Stance".

IMHO,

I think the important thing is that there is a focus on tasteful stance, as it adds so much aesthetically to the car, with no upkeep etc. There are examples of "the wrong stance" which are usually quite obvious, but everyone has their own opinion on what makes a nice stance (ultra low with standard skinny wheels on the longhoods typically, moderately low with square tyre fitment lining up with the arch lip, dished Fuchs tucking in behind the wide arches, mildly stretched tyres etc.) ...****loads of examples of "doing it right"

Thanks for the input Hezah. However, from the tone of the thread, examples of "the right stance" are submitted by many owners w/o any explanation. Can everyone have "the right stance" and "taste"? No. It's everyone's own humble opinion.

Exactly. It's about finding a ride height and body mods you're happy with. Even if only a few people agree that you've got it right.

Perhaps the right stance in grass, and nothing's moving.
