911 engine lid

I have a 1971 911,it came to me with a whale tail and body update kit,i dont like the whale tail so i purchased another lid and grille,however im having trouble lineing up the lid with the body,the part number on the lid is,wpoab0919js12,can anyone tell me what year porsche this lid came from and will it fit my 1971 911?

The number is a VIN and indicates the lid is from the 80's. You could use the VIN decoder to determine the exact year. Not sure, but probably is compatible. The problem may be that all these panels were hand fitted and filed so you may need to modify a bit to get it right. I put a new lid on my '87, it came from an '88 and to get it right I would need to file the hinge bolt holes on one side. Wouldn't gap right otherwise.
