As scottrx7tt said, you will need a new connector between the H4 connector and the H5 bulb. There are several ways of doing this. Go to a Pep Boys or similar and buy a connector for 9004/9007 or 9005 bulb. These have pigtails, you need to crimp blade connectors to insert in the female H4 connector.
I will post a picture of what you need, I have this set up in my car. If you will use higher wattage bulbs you can buy ceramic connectors and use a relay kit. By the way I do not like H5s I need more light, I am changing to H1s with 100 watt bulbs and a relay kit. Last edited by donporfi; 10-22-2009 at 02:52 PM.. Reason: added comment |

Unless you need to change out your h4s for regulatory compliance purposes, I too believe that you'll find the h5s to be a step down from the h4s illumination-wise. Better to get some higher wattage bulbs and a relay kit for your h4s from our sponsor and keep using the h4s.
Mine are no comparison to the sealed beam headlights they replaced. Why are you converting from H4s? |

Not sure why you are switching from H4's to H5's. 4's are vastly superior. Most people switch out 5's for 4's, myself included.

This is what you need to use the H5s instead of H4s.
But as said before I do not like the H5s. ![]()

Ouch!
If you (still) have the US-spec "sugar scoop" covers, you could pick up "generic" 7.5" round h4 housings. I picked up a used pair of Cibie housings for my '86 for under $50 and, with 80/100 bulbs, couldn't imagine going back to "stock" lighting. |
