New Shifter Thread

I've run through the search bar and am confused. Wevo apparently isn't around as their published number is gone. 901 gear box with about 9K on it. Linkage is either original or 70's. Drove it today and it's a bit sloppy. Since I have an Oct. appt. how about some options? I'm tall so shorter than stock might be nice.

Thanks to all. I'll look into these and order one or such. The way things are these days better get them ahead of time.

I chose the Rennshift over the WEVO, though I can't remember why. I'm happy with it.

There are several bushings outside the shifting mechanism that have a huge effect on shifter feel:

1) The cup on the end of the shifter. Replace with stock and shifting will improve dramatically if it has failed.

2) The ring bushing that keeps the rod in place. Replace this with jpnovak's bushing and you'll have less lateral play than stock.

3) The bushings in the coupler by the rear seats. Jim Tidwell makes a set of rubber bushings that reduce the fore/aft play of the stock rubber bushings (though I think it might introduce some wiggling in the shifter). Others have used brass here, or a solid coupler in various forms. I like Jim's...

I added the Wevo shifter and it made a huge difference with my 915. But when I also installed the Wevo PSJ, the overall difference was amazing. Other than my 2nd gear dog which needs replacing, the transmission now shifts perfectly.

I did the Numeric shifter and I'm pretty pleased with it. I liked the non-stock looks and also it comes with the coupler.
