Rear support for track muffler?
Looking for suggestions for rear support for this Dynomax 2 in 1 out muffler. I just purchased this muffler to (hopefully) meet track noise requirements The GT stinger that came with the car is rated at apx. 100 dbls and track requires no more than 94 at 50'
My first thought was a piece of angle iron hung off the bottom motor bracket and tack welded under the bottom pipe? ![]()

Here's what we did to hang my Flo-Pro. The same could be done on yours.

Deadeye- that looks like an old Bursch exhaust. Might want to see how they were hung when new. But memory serves me that there was a bracket welded to the lower pipe running from the left side of the engine into the muffler, this bracket bolted to one of the two lower engine mount bolts at the bottom of the engine. In your second pic you can see that it would just be a very short bracket from the pipe to one of the bolts adjacent to it.

Ed, that's similar to what I would do w/ a small pc of 3"X3" angle. That's one of your old wheels visible in top photo.
Wayne, do you have a picture of the mating part on the engine carrier? |

No pics needed as the stock bracket is what the muffler hangs on. It's simple but it works great.
Plus, it keeps it in place while bolting it on/off. No using knees, elbows or 4th arm to juggle it.

Dennis, looks like you got the wheels all cleaned up. And yup, a piece of angle would probably work there. Not sure you can use Wayne's method since his muffler looks like a Flowmaster which has a weldable case, but the Dynomax is too thin to support the exhaust, it's just thin sheetmetal.

Well crap, I didn't think about the muffler case being a problem.
Sorry about that,Deadeye. You may be able to weld a bracket to the actual exhaust pipe in a similar fashion.

![]() Here's mine. You can just see a 1x1 angle in front of the flowmaster muff.
