Rolling fenders? Should I?...

The PO of my car wanted a beefier stance.. after installing adjustable Konis, he took the 7s that were on the rear, moved them to the front, and got fake Fuch 8s for the back.

Extreme Contacts on all 4s.

While I was reversing at some point I pulled the right fender, rolling it out.. also rubbed the left inside side wall to the metal a little. I know it’s about 1.5” wider like this.

So...Do I roll this thing back to stock or roll it further? Concerned about cracking paint..

Or do I put the orig fronts back on...

I do like the beefy look.. Was told by Pro P car racer, it handles better with the 6-7 vs 7-8s..

No pics ATM..

I waited until just before new paint, and smushed the cr@p out of the fender tops on mine. But it did crack the paint, I didn't care, timing was right. fixed it tho.

Heat gun and a bat. Slow and steady. Don't push too hard. My right front tire rubbing at one point and it took a few sessions.

Lots left. Tires are 2013 but only 3000km on them. Still soft. Orig paint and don’t want to paint any time soon.

before you do any of the above work..consider alignment that is your most likely problem..I have on my 911 front 8th 205/55/16 and on the rear 9th 234/45/16 and no rubbing anywhere...all Sport conti tires..

a little negative camber helps. but sometimes still need to roll fender. I cracked the paint on my rears when rolling them a few years ago. used an Eastwood rolling tool.

I can let you borrow it for shipping, if you want send me a PM.

A heat gun and patience is your friend during this process.

Use the tool above with a heat gun. Did all of mine with no issues.

Now I wonder about dirt getting imbedded in the tiny fold area and causing cancer.

A bat is too “hit” or miss not accurate.

If it is a nice body and you don't plan on tracking it, I would get the right set up that won't require rolling the lip. To me that represents body damage. My track car fenders are rolled. Just my opinion.

If it is a nice body and you don't plan on tracking it,
that was my issue. was morphing the 911 into a street/DE car several years ago before values started going nuts....

but after losing it at turn 1 at MidOhio and stopped NEXT to the wall, decided to retire it, revert to stock, and got the 951.

next up, an LS3 911 swap for my next track car.... already a wide body conversion.

just my personal opinion , i would NEVER buy a car with rolled fenders.. the fender was designed that way for structural integrity. I will admit many do it and i am in the minority , but i turned down many a car that the fenders were rolled. about 25% were cracked when i got down and looked underneath.

Looks like you're going to need to minimally get it back to original profile. I agree with earlier posts, you need an alignment, there shouldn't be any rubbing with the sizes you're running.

I have 7s and 9s with 225/245 R888r's and there is zero rubbing...I'm actually about to toss 5mm spacers on them.

However, my car has been professionally lowered/corner balanced so the alignment angles work with the size I have, and my fenders were rolled for extra safety, but it was not required.

They're just fenders...it's not a Koenigsegg...

The cracked paint fender just made the crack worse and it eventually peeled back a bit. I dont have perfect paint so I dont really care, Ill just touch it up. However if your paint is in good shape, you should be able to roll it and not damage the paint if you heat it up slowly and take your time with the rolling.

If you do roll it, you don't need to do it from end to end. Just the middle section where the tire may contact it. And roll it a bit, somewhere between 33 and 45 degrees.

I had my front fender doing exactly what was shown in the photos above. I rolled them all and yeah the paint cracked even with a heat gun, but idgaf. Looks way better and drives without rubbing.
