Tires for 4.5" Fuchs?

I have the small 4.5" Fuchs on my '67. Skinny 70 series tires are expensive and almost impossible to locate. Could I run something like a 175/65 or 185/65?

What are my options?

I have the Hankook 165/15s on my 914-4 and really like them. I think they were only $40-$50 each. I bought mine from Tire Rack.

I can't find any 165's on the Tire Rack or Tire Warehouse websites. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

How would I figure out the metric size?

165HR15's

Michelin or Vredestein are usually available at Coker Tire

The Vred.......s are reasonable in price

I think the Chinese Hankooks and Japanese Kumho's make a 165/80/15 which has the same aspect ratio, are much cheaper but don't ) imho) have the right look.

Vredesteins are the way to go - they handle great and are pretty cheap! I have a set on my '65. This is where I bought mine:

Vredestein

If you are looking for uber performance that will make the guys with 9" wheels cry, you could go for the Avon CR6ZZs, but they wear out fast and are over twice the price of the Vredes:

Directory Listing of /racetirepricing/Avon Race Tires/

They are, however, the best performance tire on the market for 4.5" x 15" fitment.
