Is there a canvas sun shade for the Targa?

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a sun shade (not the windshield kind) for the Targa - kind of like the ones available for the Boxster called sun fly, canvas sun shade, etc.

This would be used to simply cover the cab interior when parked in the sun, and would save me from folding/unfolding (even bringing) the Targa top.

Thanks

Yes there is or used to be one. Check Excellence and Panorama although I haven't noticed an ad recently.

After searching before and after posting this question, I think au to ch ic dot com (make this all one term) might have something, but I don't see a picture.

If our host offers something, I can't find it so there would be no concern for competition (If I am wrong, please correct me).

I used keywords like half cover and interior cover. I even found searching on google to be more productive for the pelican site and others as I turned up more hits here. I am still looking - it's gotta be out there.

Here is one thread..

Just received this cover for my Targa, made by Covercraft. It’s what I was looking for; a light cover for sun protection and an unexpected rain shower.

The general fit is good, although the strap which goes around the driver mirror is out of position (too far back). Seems Covercraft did not take into consideration that the mirrors are positioned differently driver/passenger (at least on my ‘79). Will just require a repositioning with needle and thread.

Would it not be faster and easier to put the roof back on. OEM factory fit and included with the car for free?

I have a coupe and I have never messed with a Targa top. I had a 914 as a daily driver for 25 years, that top took only seconds to take off or put on. I had enough open air driving for one lifetime, and a coupe was the only 911 I wanted.

Unlike 914 tops, our tops require folding/unfolding ... unless you store behind seats which I will not do as can mis-shape the leading front or rear edge. Or you can re-position the brake fluid reservoir in frunk (no thanks). I bought a Blaupunkt Bremen recently ... sure, I could have left the included original in there "for free" ..

Jason, is somewhat water resistant? I had to drive mine a time in winter, I always threw a plastic tarp, fit reasonably well, over the top to protect against snow. But I do really like my car>> Necessity for a couple weeks+/-

Sonderwerks in Charlotte NC sells a "sport top" that should also work. Suction cups to door windows for quick cover when out/about.

I haven’t had the opportunity to test for water resistance, but my logic was that I wanted a sun shade in summer which could protect as well against a rain shower (while I’m out on the golf course). If a true rain were in the forecast, I’d have the Targa top in place. I’m sure there is a product that I can treat it with for greater rain protection.

The Sonderwerks top looks like a nice product, but I preferred a scenario where I would not need to roll up the windows.

I use a Covercraft version on my coupe to keep the interior cool and the sun off the dash during those blazing Alabama summer days. Works awesome, interior stays cool with the windows down.
