i couldnt even change a flat this morning...
I couldn't remove the port near the rear tire to access hole to put jack into. Am I missing something here? I even damaged it by pulling with a screw driver.

If you tried to remove the squarish, black plastic one, there's nothing holding it in but friction.

Something tells me you were trying to remove the round cover you remove to extract the rear torsion bar. The jack hole is midway between the front and rear wheels. The cover is square and black plastic.

I also have the feeling you were trying to remove the wrong cover !
Be very careful with the factory jack when you try to lift your car through the mid body access. A lot of people carry scissor jacks instead of the factory, whatever you can call it jack ... Cheers ! Phil

That's explains it, it was very dark when I was doing this. Then how does the round thingy come that's closest to rear tire, I scratched it all up and bent it?
Thanks |

Look at the backside and you will see how to remove the cover.

and you can't remove the round thingy unless you remove the rocker panels, especially if you have a 1987 car or later...
You only do that to set the torsion bar height.

The torsion bar access plate is held in place from the back with a small bracket and nut. Easy to replace the damaged one....
JB PS: ya the rocker panels are a bit of a pain, but then you have the opportunity to clean up all the dirt and crap underneath it!

Dude - you did the right thing by coming here - there is a wealth of knowledge here - JW is one of the best.
We have all done stupid things - not everybody has ponied up to. Search for "stupid things" people have done - at least for a chuckle. I myself have overfilled the crankcase and fogged the neighborhood for mosquitos. My first Porsche a 964 - I didn't even change the oil myself on it. The next one - a 1987 - I did brakes/suspension and even dug into the engine. This one - suspension/brakes - really nothing intimidates me anymore. You have to start somewhere. no big deal...

Destroyed my Screw Jack two nights ago. Didn't chuck the wheels and the car rolled as I jacked it up. Fortunately only the jack was ruined.
Time to get a 944 aluminum one.

Don't jump to conclusions, I didn't do that! Just saying that he could have REALLY screwed up, instead of sorta screwed up.
![]() Regardless, a good reminder to not "force" things. At least this is a relatively simple fix.

OK, so let's think of what would happen IF you got the torsion bar cover off and put the jack in the hole and started to screw....

Porsche jacks are crap. I gave up on mine when it sank into hot asphalt at the side of the road on a hot August day. I now have a screw type that hooks up to a jack pad that inserts into the jack port.
