Backdated SC

Very, very nice. Did you do the work yourself?

What is the white rectangular box above the fuel tank?

Do the pop out windows and the vent windows in the doors fit
without any issue?

Thanks.

Mark Morrissey 08-25-2010 01:32 PM

Great looking car. Congratulations

Not necessarily that far off.

Biggest weight gain from a longhood to the SC are the bumpers, tires and A/C.

Only the tires are still there.

Just gorgeous!

I'd marry that car.

D911SC 08-25-2010 04:08 PM

That looks really good. How did you finish the oil lines?

tazzieman 08-25-2010 04:50 PM

Outstanding vehicle!
Where can one buy the yellow/zinc hose clips? I prefer those to SS
Also the fuelcap sticker is pretty confronting!

RSTarga 08-25-2010 05:05 PM

Very Sweet

Joe Bob 08-25-2010 05:14 PM

The Porsche logo was applied a little unsteadily......

Bet it looks OK at speed.

Actually, if you look at it, it does follow the door gap and looks like the door is closed too much.

Joe Bob 08-25-2010 05:21 PM

Look at the R and S letters.....

You can get your existing clips re-plated but only works out cheaper if you are getting a few items done at once. Other options are to contact your local Wurth distributor as they may have some yellow zinc. Eagleday also do yellow clamps.

Fortunately for me my local mechanic stocks 'correct' stuff and has most of the yellow zinc stuff on hand. You might want to try a specialist mechanic nearby. Even if he doesn't stock them he may be able to throw your original stuff in his next batch of replating.

D911SC 08-25-2010 05:23 PM

You guys are fussy :) That's not a bad thing. I guess I was just 'blinded' by how good the overall package is.

galileo 08-25-2010 05:23 PM

incredible...just curious what are the major components involved besides bumpers? how does it affect resale, good/bad or no change?

Eric Hahl 08-25-2010 06:01 PM

Sweet looking car! I've been collecting parts to do basically the same thing. Love the way this turned out!

kiwiokie 08-25-2010 06:11 PM

Beautiful. Love the color. Clean, spoilerless front and rear look great.

G450X 08-25-2010 06:20 PM

Really nice....

But, I think the old "SC" wasn't that bad....I'm a bit biased though, I have an '82 in the same color (956 - pewter in U.S. brochures I think).

What size rims & tires are you running? That wheel & tire combo really makes it stand out.

I can't imagine it would do anything to the value but add to it - SC's are very "overlooked" 911's these days. It seems most people want a mint, low mile SC for around $15k, which seems a bit low (bias again...).

Looks fantastic, and no sunroof - try to find that on a post '74 U.S. 911!

Any go-fast engine/transmission/brake mods?

ShakinJoe 08-25-2010 06:50 PM

Nice job!

t-cup 08-25-2010 08:48 PM

Duuuuuude! Nice. Thanks for sharing these pics.

But do you have any pics of the journey from stock SC to backdate? This is like catching the first and last 3 minutes of a cooking show where you see the ingredients and then the finished dish...

mr 911 08-25-2010 08:51 PM

looks fantastic!

Evans, Marv 08-25-2010 09:02 PM

One of the nicest I've seen. I'm in love with your car. Glad I don't have to do anything to my '69 to make it look like that. I'd take your car before the backdate. Wow!

Have you got any more pics? I have the same color and am thinking of removing the fog lights. This is the 1st pic I've seen that gives me an idea of the end result.

Want to be sure before I weld up the holes!
