Porsche looking for oldest Porsches in US

https://porsche.promo.eprize.com/60years/

http://www.boston.com/cars/newsandreviews/overdrive/2010/08/whos_got_the_oldest_porsche_in.html?p1=Well_Cars_C enter_links
The good folks at Porsche are celebrating 60 years in the United States by searching for the oldest Porsches in 12 model categories, including the oldest Porsche of them all.

The 12 models include the 356, 911, 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, 968, Boxster, Cayenne, Carrera GT, and Cayman.

A couple of the perks will include exhibition-quality images to be featured at the "Sixty Years of Porsche in America" exhibit opening Oct. 12 at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. Plus an exclusive badge from the museum. One vehicle also may be selected for display at the Porsche stand during this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show alongside the company’s newest models.

In addition to the nationwide search, Porsche is conducting an essay contest for owners and enthusiasts to pour out their love for the brand. The contest will be open to entries until Nov. 1, with 20 winning stories selected by a special panel of Porsche judges. Fans will then vote online for their favorites from the list of 20 finalists. The three entries with the most votes will win an all-expense-paid trip the Porsche Sport Driving School in Birmingham, Ala.

This subject is also being discussed on the 356registry website; it seems that perhaps Jerry Seinfeld will end up as the owner of the oldest 356 in the U.S. Don't know about the 911 or other series.

I just got a line on the third oldest here in Pennsylvania. I was told it was a "pre-letter" 356. Would this be a Gmund(spell?) model?

Wonder if they will accept a 914/4 AND a 914/6? They ARE different models....

There is a non running 914/6 that is a prototype.....it was the subject of an Excellence article. It really shouldn't be anywhere's as it was supposed to have destroyed back in the Faderland.....

The rules indicate that they are seeking the oldest example of each model ordered new through a US dealer, so a Gmuend Coupe is unlikely to cut much ice. My '65 912 (451326) was ordered through Porsche Cars Southwest (San Antonio) and delivered in Stuttgart in August '65, so I've entered it, but someone else is likely to have an earlier example.

I think my '66 912 is a bit too bastardized to even enter 450549 (which sounds more like a '65)
