Fuchs Fitment for RS clone
Hello All,
I am planning on building a 73 RS Clone. My question is for wheel fitments. I like the look of both 15x7&8's and 16x7&8's. To start I will be running S calipers, but may want to go to Turbo brakes. On a previous project I got 15 x 7&8's to fit over 928GT calipers AKA Black Big Reds, although I had to run only external wheel weights, thats how close it was. I belive that those wheels were 944 off set. Is there a brake fitments advantage to the 944 off set? If I do go to turbo brakes they will be 930 style and no bigger. What is the opinion of the group?? The rear is running real RS flares and not SC. Not opposed to 9's either, but there is a cost factor there....Thanks |

but anyhoo, 7 & 7 x15 works fine w/ 930 brakes, radially it's tight and it does put a lot of heat into the tires here's a 9x15 rear w/ 930 brakes ![]() 928S4 calipers fit on 930 front rotors but the caliper itself is taller hence closer, 928GTS are even taller but don't fit 930 rotors, so you must have had S4 calipers not GTS. The 928S4 front caliper is the same as a 993 front caliper only w/ reversed feeds & bleeds. To use a 928 on a 911 theses need to be swapped. 911 7 & 8 fit exactly the same as 911 15s, you do get a little more radial clearance(.5") many will use 944 7x16 in front because of the extra axial caliper clearance that these wheels provide behind the petals so using Porsche supplied Fuchs 7ET23.3(911) & 8ET10.6(911) x15 works w/ 930s but is tight 7ET23.3(911) & 8ET10.6(911) x16 works w/ 930s a little more radial clearance 7ET23.3(944) & 8ET10.6(911) x16 works w/ 930s & 928/993 more radial and axial clearance in front

Id go with 16's just because appropriate tires for 15's are becoming such an issue.
