19-Inch Sport Classic Wheel Fitment

Flipping through the bible (Excellence) the other day, I noticed an ad for 19 inch Sport Classic wheels that look just like the beautiful classic Fuchs. However, the ad states that the wheels won't fit on anything but 2005 and newer AWD. Why wouldn't these wheels fit say on a 2003 996TT?

Do you mean the 19" 997 Carrera Classic wheels? If so they are BEAUTIFUL and a true classic like the Fuchs.

I read somewhere that they would fit a wide body 993. One said it would require minor fender massaging, and another said they bolted right up with no issues.

They DO look good, though...

Let's not start with the 996 forum stuff...I know where the knowledge hangs out regardless of engine cooling method.

Not starting any "stuff". The last time I looked this was the 911 board, and you are discussing a 996. It's not like we don't see wayward posts here from time to time.

Well, what are the stock specs on 996 turbo wheels? Width/offset/backspacing/etc? What are the specs of these new Fuchs? I'd guess the issue would be with fenderlip clearance, or perhaps inboard suspension clearance. Not that you can't ask these types of questions on the 911 forum, but there aren't a lot of guys here who have 996 turbos or 997s who can recite from memory and experience specific wheel fitment questions. I'd think someplace like 6 speed online (or maybe the Pelican 996/997 forum) might be a better forum for these questions.
