Here's some progress - getting the wheel cleaned up for the CAD scan and modeling work which is being quoted on Monday...

Removing 32 years of oxidation:

Lots of elbow grease later:

House & living room shot to piss off the female counterparts:

If you've ever been near to something that, in such a small amount of space can totally alter your preception of reality, & make you feel as if you are a part of something much larger than yourself...you know what its like to be in the same room as this wheel...

Its as if the second comming is in my living room - just to hold it and see it so close - the only way to describe it is in the utterance of "otherworldly"...

I think I just wet my pants. The Jagermeister is my all time favorite. The difference in the front to back wheel sizes is plain old nasty.

Gentle fogging of new green etching primer to give the wheel a new, unused look:

Don't get any paint/primer on the inner "lugnut" surface that contacts the car ...oops.....too late.

Don't worry guys, this wheel being cast magnesium and super old will not be run on any car - so the paint is merely superficial.

This wheel is our CAD baby and all "acorn measurements and crucial dimensions will be taken from my set of rear 935 wheels so that everything is in spec.

This wheel has had a hard life - now it's time for it to enjoy retirement and be ohhh'd and ahhh'd over.

I'll try to bring it to one of the up coming shows!

Btw the acorn holes and lug surface was painted from the factory, in this case from this manufacturer as well as my magnesium BBS centers.
