Bosch distributor rebuilder?

I am upgrading our 1970 911T from the Marelli distributor the a Bosch (0 231 159 006). The bosch is in pretty rough shape (see pics). The good news is that there isn't any free play in the shaft and the mechanical advance seems to move smoothly.

Can anyone recommend a distributor rebuilder, preferably in the Chicago area?

Ed Fall in Utah rebuilt a cast iron Bosch for me....cosmetically very good, mechanically not so good, I had to send it back to him for recurving. I think it is OK now.....this will probably be the cheapest option. Real nice guy, easy to work with. Just mainly works on VW stuff, so watch the mechanical part.

You also could send to Jerry Woods or one of the other Porsche specific guys, and I've heard the opposite will happen....mechanical perfection but it will be returned just as grungy as the way you send it to him. I have also heard good things about Aaron Burnham I believe.

You're missing everything from points plate on up, and that will cost a bit to replace.

I'd recommend either Ed Fall in UT or Glen Ring in NY. Both are the gurus of vintage German distributors and do quality rebuilds.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I talked with Barry Hershorn and he said the distributor might not be salvageable. I'm going to keep my eyes scanning flea-bay for more distributors.

Thanks again,
Peter

Peter, there is one for sale now on PP classified for $350 and I believe it is the correct one if it does not have to be rebuilt/recurved, it is good price. Steve
