Fender Seals question

Anyone know if our host sells the seals you need to replace when replacing a front drivers side fender? and what seals need to even be replaced? can't seem to find them

Part number: 000 043 129 00, goes the length of the fender. The catalog lists it as "5 meter length", I'd double check with a sales guy.

If you are talking about the seal between the cowl and fender below the windshield corner there are two depending on year: 901-503-394-22 and 911-799-503-07. Then there is the terostat seal between fender and body: 000-043-129-00. Search pelican by part number and you will find what you need.

My car (1972) did not have this seal between the fender and the body, but just a thin strip of dum-dum caulking. Would this be appropriate or is the OEM seal better?.

The original stuff is about 3/4 inch wide and a little more than a 1/16 inch thick. It is also fairly sticky but very easily squished. It seems to provide a good seal for going on 4 years now for me. Some of the old stuff was still flexible when I took it off. Since the undercoating was still continuous, I think it was the original from 1982.
I am not sure what dum-dum caulking is, but if it stays pretty flexible and can be shaped into a thin wide ribbon, it could work pretty well. That said, the amount of work involved in re-doing the seal if it does not work is pretty painful.
Whatever you choose, be patient with the reinstall of the fenders and be really clean to avoid scratches.

Aka it goes the length of the car? the picture of 000 043 129 00 makes it look like it's just a seal for a coupe back side window

Marc-

There's also a hard plastic trim piece, about 13" long, that fits between the fender and the cowl.
