I have a Bursch muffler on my '74 2.7 too, and I LOVE it !!! The paint have not flaked off, and it took 30 minutes to install the muffler. So I'm pretty happy. Deep mellow sound in idle, and gets really aggressive when it hits 3000 rpms

I have no trouble driving it at highwayspeed. I can still hear my girlfriend, so in fact I wish it was LOUDER !!

I have a terrible clip recorded on a windy day on my cellphone here: YouTube - ‪1974 Porsche 911‬‏

A better clip will be posted soon................

Sound clips are pretty much useless to really tell what a car sounds like...you really need to drive/ride in one to really tell what it sounds like.

Why does Bursch take the time to dyno their mufflers but not spray it with a quality paint or other coating - despite years and years of people complaining?

I have a Bursch on my 1970 - originally with a 2.4T motor, now on my 2.7RS-spec. I concur with the other comments about the paint quality, but also agree with the positive comments on the sound - very deep and throaty, not tinny or buzzy in any way!

i will add to my previous post - from inside the car the difference in sound and volume is not really all that noticeable especially under normal driving conditions.
HOWEVER - when you let that baby wind up it really does sound like a race car. and if you're going under a bridge as you're winding her up, let's just say you WILL have a smile on your face as come out from under that bridge / tunnel.

Bursch muffler

I have one on my 911 , 2 in 1 out. It sounds great when you wind-out the engine. I had to cut and weld one pipe (adding an exhaust reducer) going into the muffler because the flanges did not align perfectly with my SS headers. The paint / finish is terrible as is the chrome on the tip. DP Lindman

What muffler is the meanest.
Bursch 2 - 1 or M&K 2-2?

I have a hard time to decide?
I get the Bursch for 100$ and the M&K 2-2 for 600$

I want to be satisfied. With the Dansk 2-1 I am not satisfied.

They do sound decent, but in my experience their muffler cans are pretty cheap and have a tendency to blow out.
