993tt LS1

I wanted to thank everyone for their help and post some pics of my project. It started last October with a ebay purchase and a all night drive to St. louis.
I had a rolling chassis with brakes and wheels, and part of a gray interior. I painted the body and cut the stock springs so it would look as cool as possible while it was sitting in my shop.

I bought a complete black leather interior, a complete C4s drivetrain, and new bumper covers for more than I paid for the car...

And then I bought this off craigslist because I didn't have 20k the stocker...

I this is what it looks like when you're too impaicent to borrow a hoist or take the car to my bikeshop where I have a inground lift.

I drove the car out of my shop last night for the first time and washed it, my 6 year old daughter was so excited to ride in it! sorry about the pic, it was almost dark.

working on cooling and exhaust, more to come...

Awesome. Did it really start life as a real 993tt?

yes, I found pics of it on LAdismantlers website from 08'. It had 70k miles on it. The same auction number was still on the side window when I bought it last year. I've got the pics saved on my PC at work, I'll post them too. I'm gonna try to put a radiator on each side of the front wheels one in between the a/c condensor and the condensor fan and the other mounted in place of the oil cooler on the passenger side. I'm hoping this will work because I don't want cut the front out of my car and lose my trunk space.

Thanks Nola, with the Renegade Hybrids kit the drivetrain stuff is very straight forward. The rest has just been digging through boxes and bolting things back on that someone else took off. I've been working today mounting the bumper covers and putting in the front and rear lights. I'm going back out in a minute and work on my wiring, my guages are lighting up like a Christmas tree. I'm gonna start trying to figure out how to let the car electronics know that everythings OK in the engine bay.

I could use some help on my low beam headlights. After much frustration these are the only lights not working. I noticed a flat plug on either side of the car in front of the fuel tank. These were plugged into something called a headlight vertical aim control I think. On the wiring diagram there is also a potentiometer for headlight vertical aim control. It looks like there's a motor involved with the control units, are they in the headlight assemblies or is this what's missing under my hood? Of is there a poteniometer for each light and that's what I'm missing... I only see one potentiometer on the diagram.
Thanks in advance.

It would appear that the control unit for the headlamp is what I would call a ballast. It looks like my car lost it's fancy headlights about the time it lost it's stock engine and transmission. someone then installed regular lights back in it. I bypassed the control units for now and may install aftermarket HIDs in it later.

I got my tach working but it seems to read lower than actual engine speed. Can my tach be recalibrated? I took the bulb out of my belt warning lamp then after some thought reinstalled it. I think if I could find a wiring diagram that I could read the wire colors on I could figure out what it needs to be happy. Also my multi function indicator backlighting isn't working. I checked the bulb and it's good. At one point I remember seeing it lit but now it's dark. It appears to be working but it's hard to see. Any ideas? I'm thinking for my oil temp and oil pressure I should be able to install porsche sending units into my LS1 and they should work as well. All my other idiot lights were brake related. I had a loose line on my left front caliper as well as a plug off on one of the brake pumps under the hood. No work today so I hope to get some more time in on it today.

you can replace the oil level sending unit in the oil pan with an adaptor that will allow you to use a regular 1/8th inch pipe thread sending unit for the oil temperature. i bought mine from speedway motors in lincoln nebraska. cost 20 bucks.

First trip!

Drove my car to the store a mile from my house with open manifolds and no radiators... got to love Alabama... I've got a big loop of 1.25 heater hose that goes up one rocker, across the front and back down the other rocker. Radiators are in the works, camaro manifolds I need for the exhaust are in transit.

My mirrors were late to the party and missed the first two rounds of painting. I took them off night before last and sanded them, took them to work with me yesterday and sprayed them last night. Funny how the little things you take for granted make such a difference, like door handles and side mirrors, or your car being all the same color.

Put my carpet kit in last week as well

I'm not big on the V8 swaps but your car looks fantastic!!!! I'm sure it'll run great as well.

Enjoy it as much as possible.

Thanks! I had every intention of putting the car back stock when I bought it, but it turned out that I would have been better off the buy a turn key one than rebuild this one, so here I am...

Thanks guys! Yes, still AWD... Everything is still stock about the driveline except the engine. Should be interesting. Thanks on the 944 comment too. I've driven it to work the last 2 days, it sits most of the time. I bought it in 96' and I put my second set of tires on it in 02' and they still look new. I forgot how much fun it is to drive. I was on the way home after work yesterday going up one of our many curvy mountain roads and broke the tires loose in 3rd gear! Great cars for the money. I think when I get my 993 going I'll pay some attention to it as well. I almost sold it to help finance the 993, glad I didn't now.

yeah, stock Corvette LS1. I'm looking for 2 small turbos now. There's tons of room on the sides of the engine. I plan on running turbos with an intercooler in the stock location with 6 or 8lbs of boost. I figure even though it's a bastard there wouldn't be many cars with a/c cruise and power windows that would touch it...

Radiators are here.

My friend that builds custom radiators brought mine to me today. Here are some pics. The left side was easy because it mounts to the A/C condenser. The right side is gonna require some fitting.

This is the plan...

Left side.

Right side, I plan on trimming the baffle down and leaving tabs for mounting.
