spoiler change

I have an '83 SC with a factory turbo tail that I feel really doesn't look that great on an SC body. I'm thinking of changing the lid and have no tail or keep the lid and put an RS America or Carrera style tail on it.

Will an after market Getty or MA Shaw fit the original mounting holes?

Same with me on hole spacing.

I looked at both Getty and MA Shaw and the info is sparse re: installation.

I put the Carrera tail on my 81 Targa after my 400 lb work-mate rode with me on the Houston beltway at speed. Big difference in stability Although this factoid is meaningless, I wish I had researched the various original retro-spoilers that I could have installed for a used price that would compete with aftermarket prices. Some of these are pretty slick and would make for a nice, but different, look and definitely serve as an interesting conversation piece.

Personally - I would change the lid for a no tail look. The narrow bodies just don't look as good with the tails. IMHO.

I was wondering whether it was possible to remove the tail only and go with a no-tail look.

Would the black grill from a no-tail lid drop right into the opening (of the lid with the removed tail)?

Anyway, it looks like due to the mounting holes below the grill opening, the question is moot.

I'm really leaning toward the no tail look it's a much sleeker look. I've been looking for a nice lid but haven't come across one yet.
I took off those SC driving lights and had the holes filled and the valence repainted along with a new smile last year. Now I thought it was time for the rear clean-up.
I'd love to find a black SC lid in mint condition but I'd paint a nice one if I had to.

Welcome.

The tail finish is hand worked as well. That took some time in the vents. Way more labor than the flat engine lid.

This does the same for me as looking at a bright and clean slide-throttle injection engine.
