2012 Porsches 2 Oxford ?
In the latest OVR PCA monthly mag there was comment that said the Porsches 2 Oxford event was going to be relabeled as Porsches 2 Ohio and will be a different event next year held in Granville, which is north of Columbus.
Commentary goes on to say that a negotiation could happen for another event in Oxford using the same name but the main street will be under further renovation so that doesn't sound promising. Will be interesting to see when more info comes out what the new event will be like next year. In case anyone wants to read it themselves, comments were on page 16 of the Oct/Nov Edition in the October monthly meeting notes section.

Bummer. P2O 2011 was my first and I liked the location. Something to be said about a small college town in the summer when the merchants are happy to have the business. I've never heard of Granville but I'm sure the organizers were thorough given the success of the event. I'm planning on being there in any case

Granville/P2O
Yes we are moving P2O to Granville which is 20 minutes east of Columbus. After 7 years we felt that the event was getting a bit stale. Most events like this get moved every year, such as the Parade or Escape. We also did not have a central hotel as a gathering place for everyone. This is a big social event and this should make the event even better. Granville is also a college town but with a more adult environment. There are many more great places to eat, more shops, museums, golf and places to tour. We are planing the Friday night get together at the Granville Inn which is an awesome place. PCNA has expressed interest in coming also. The streets are wider and can park 4 cars across. It should be a big improvement over past events. As far as them using the old event name we have trade marked the P2O name and I can also tell you that the word Porsche cannot be in any event name such as Porsches2granville. The Lawyers have spoken on this issue. I realize not everyone will be pleased with moving the event at first but give it a try. We have made several trips To Granville to plan this event and we are confident it will be a big improvement. It was proving to be very difficult to deal with certain individuals in Oxford, in fact the event was cancelled by the people in Oxford just 3 weeks prior to the event. We cannot risk this again. Look for more information in the next month.
Thank You Ron Thomas Chairperson P2O |

I'm curious, will Main St. through downtown Granville be closed to traffic for the event? If so, you could park a lot of cars there. How many Porsches are expected? Looking forward to it.

Ron,
We never met but I'm shocked to hear that Oxford threated to shut down P2O. Not that I don't believe you...I do but that it's Oxford huge loss to have their destination dropped. What a shame. I'm looking forward to go to my 3rd P2O event next year. BTW, thanks for organizing this event.

shut down
You can verify that Oxford C&VB did try to shut the event down. Talk to anyone of the Mid Ohio Region Porsche club people such as President , VP or Treasurer. They can back my claims. Look on the bright side Granville will be even bigger and better. Thanks Ron

places to eat
Maybe I should have said Granville has more good places to eat than Oxford, here is a list; the wine cache, Brews (must have 250 brands of beer), Buxton inn (200 years old in 2012) Granville inn (super nice place) Nona, Victria's, Greek Eats, Alladin, Whits, Creno's, Elms, Cherry Valley lodge (via free shuttle or Panamera test drive) Granvilla, subway, Wendy's. the event will take place right through the middle of town on Broadway, instead of having just two rows of cars we will have four rows of cars and still have plenty of space. Broadway is very wide. Granville is very scenic and a great town. We have been working on this since July. we would expect 400 to 500 Porsches again this coming year thanks Ron Thomas

Has the date been set for this event already? If so is the Granville Inn going to be the event headquarters?

Granville
There are about 50 rooms available between Buxton and Granville inn so about 150 rooms will be needed at Cherry Valley lodge, so I guess Cherry Valley is the central site. It is a really nice place with a bar and restaurant, spa etc. I negotiated a rate of $99 with Cherry Valley but you need to book before June 27th. The date is July 28th for the main show but you might want to spend Friday in and around town that is also when the party will be. Sunday there will be tours, drives, shopping and you can watch a Polo match right down the street at Bryn Du. P2O is always the last Saturday in July. Thanks Ron

That's too bad. I used to like going to Oxford and meeting my friends. Granville is 3 hours further away from Indianapolis. I don't think I will go that far to attend. Oxford was close enough to make it a day trip and well worth the time.

I am sure you will loose a few west of Oxford, but I am in Pittsburgh. I was in Granville for a wedding last summer, it too is a great little college town. I was tempted to come last year, but it's a boring five hour drive in each direction, so I passed. I will be there for sure next year. Actually, I think it's a great idea to move it around to different locations throughout the state.

P2o
Yes we will probably lose some and gain others. We get people from Florida, Texas, Minnesota and Canada. Please consider staying the night because we have the Friday night event and there will probably be tours on Sunday. There is enough to do you can come in Thursday also and make it a mini vacation not just on day event. I am thinking about opening the local Porsche museum on Friday for tours also? Thanks Ron

If it does end up in the new location, I will likely attend. I have family in Columbus.

Wasn't sure which local museum you were referring to Ron but after a quick google search I think a bunch of us would take you up on that offer
![]() I saw the #64 car on the track this summer at MO ... looked like you were having fun out there !
