With this nice weather forecast, save 50 miles and do I-82 and I-90 in WA. Avoid that I-5 rat race.......

I pushed pretty hard yesterday and made it all the way to Pendleton, OR. Yesterday morning's pictures of the snowy 911 were as bad as the snow ever got. By the time I hit the Utah border, the snow was gone. The little bit that was on my car hung in there until about mid Idaho! It was pretty cool to watch how the wind cut the snow and showed me the way air was flowing around the car.
![]() Always a good time for science! ![]() ![]() This was just over the Oregon border, running along the Snake river. The car has been planted and well sorted for the whole trip. I still have a bit of a shake above 75mph, but because of my transmission issue I've limited my speed to 70. The curvies through the hills have been a lot of fun. ![]() For the Denver people... This was out on the Eastern plains a couple of days ago... ![]() Today is the final leg. I need to hit Seattle first, then over to Bremerton. I am going to thumb my nose at mother nature and go via Snowqualmie. ![]() Thanks for the interest and support! I have a bunch of pictures and other stuff that I'll post up when I have a little more time. -Dan

I finally made it.
![]() Here she was on the ferry from Seattle to Bremerton. If you look VERY closely, the car two in front of me is a 991 Turbo S Cab. The owner of the car was an owner of a shipyard, and commutes from Kitsap over to Seattle every day. Nice guy, not a wrench turner type. I thought this pic from a bit earlier in the day needed posted: ![]() I have a bunch more, and I'll post a real wrapup in the next couple of days. To make the long story very very short: she made it. Never left me standing, never made me do any more work than a bit of altitude related carb tuning. What a grand 'ol girl.![]() Olympic mountains from the ferry. It's good to be back in the West. ![]() Thanks to all! More details to follow. -Dan

Hey Daniel, congratulations! I was a little worried when I read about one cylinder not cooperating and the vibrations that made your drive interesting. But these P-cars always seem to come through. I remember once driving in a 68 911T from Grand Canyon back to LA with a broken rear torsion bar, no problem! And, once on a snowy winter night on the road from Tahoe to Mammoth on route 395 on the eastern Sierra Nevada I hit a snow covered big rock in the road right at my front wishbone. It got bent but a new wheel alignment, after driving 300 miles back to LA, fixed that. Didn't even have to replace any suspension parts!

Daniel:
Excellent, you made it to the "best coast.: Can't wait for the entire picture spread of the trip. You: "Never left me standing, never made me do any more work than a bit of altitude related carb tuning. What a grand 'ol girl. Makes me think of a phrase that stands the test of time: Porsche. There is no substitute. Of course your mechanical skills had a lot to do with it too. Good luck with the bearing and trans issue...hopefully an easy fix, right?
