Help! Noisy speedometer cable

My '70 911T's speedometer cable is making noise. I have both ends disconnected and I'm trying to get the internal cable out of the cable so that I can grease it up. I can't remove the internal cable. Do these come apart or will I have to replace the entire speedo cable?
Thanks

Replace the whole thing. It is not the cable, but a kink in the cable housing. When the cable makes the turn from the centerfloorboard up to the dash, that is where they tend to kink. That is probably where the noise is coming from. OTTO
