good and reliable engine rebuilder (bay area)
Hey guys
Long time...too long I am planning finally to put some love in my 3rd child (the car, but i could call it also second wife, since i drive more time than the time that i spend with my wife :P).I was planning to have an engine overhaul, and was wondering about good and reliable places around the bay area; so far I have heard of a couple of mechanics that works on 911 mainly, but I would like to hear your experiences and feedbacks. The car runs fine, but the seals are old; the pressure gauge does not give me hints that there is a leak, but I find oil sometimes where i park (nothing big, few drops around the engine area, and not even that often); plus I do not know if the power that I get is the full power or the partial one...the car has more than 200K and I doubt that any work was done on the engine. Some people told me to not fix it until it breaks; but I am not sure if this is really a good idea ![]() Another thing that I would ask: is there a difference in "services" ? like there are different levels of overhaul of the engines? And which one would fit my case? Thanks as usual!

No personal experience, but I have heard Tom Amon at Mobile Works West is good.

Thanks for the replies
Did you used them for your car? Which was your experience? How much was the final cost at the end?

Jerry Woods is rather famous and has an engine dyno in his shop.

Tom Amon of Mobile Works West rebuilt my engine approxiamtely 5 years ago. Since then I've put on 50,000 trouble free miles and have no oil leaks and burn about 1qt of oil every 2- 2500 miles.
Tom could advise on what work you would need doing, maybe just a top end rebuild. He won't recommend a full rebuild if you don't need it.

Thank you all for your replies; I've started to investigate about the names that you gave me
I didn't know that there were so many good rebuilders around!
