Looks like you did a lot of work & a color change on top of that...!! Anything you would do differently now that the car is complete I believe...?? Thx, Bob

I didn't post a thread here about my build Bob... should've...would've...if not for the time and attention that a project of this nature and scope requires.
Nevertheless, I will try to give a description about the sectional work involved in our "tribute S/T" build. ENGINE: The car came with a stock, CIS'd 3.0... and I wanted a more dedicated, purpose-built engine for vintage-racing. I was able to get hold of a hi-comp 2.8, with a tuned, tall-stacked MFI already installed. Just what I was looking for... a more "period-correct"-looking motor than the 3.0 CIS. It was crank-dyno'd at 272HP...according to the builder. And on a lightened '72T, that's surely a good thing! ![]() Knowing that I wasn't satisfied, and confident, with the 915 tranny that was mated to the 3.0, I decided to get a newly-rebuilt 915 tranny...and while I was at it, had a new WaveTrac LSD installed. When the tranny arrived, it was fortuitous that a couple of more "goodies" were already pre-installed by the previous owner! Wevo internal gateshift...original Porsche tranny oil cooler...turbo synchros...among others... Christmas came early last year! ![]()

FRONT-MOUNT OIL COOLER COOLER:
A "MUST", and highly recommended modification, for highly-stressed engines that will see track-duty. I decided to go Elephant Racing route for this project...and I believe was the most "painless" way to go. Everything that is needed to do this modification is in their kit. Takes the guesswork away from mixing-and-matching oil coolers to couplings to hoses to brackets...you get the drift... ![]() The bigger challenge was how to fit the big front oil cooler with sufficient posterior relief for proper airflow... ![]() Measure... measure... and measure!!! ![]() Ain't no turning back from here... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All buttoned up...with a li'l custom bracketing for the cooler mount.

In deference to the OP, Olsen911, I'd like to share how we reworked the back end for the "S/T" flares...
We started out with, stock rear quarters, "RS" FRP bumpers and ducktail on our car. The "S/T" flares were 9" wide, so the impending issue was how to "blend" the existing "RS" bumper with the "S/T" flares. If you decide to get a wider "S/T" bumper, your problem is solved. Can you "massage" a narrow "RS" bumper to fit the wider "S/T" flares?... absolutely. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here's the final assembly... ![]() ![]() ![]() At this point, it becomes so easy to say, "...this will do..."... RESIST that urge. A smooth transition can be had... just spend a little more time being fussy about it. ![]()
